Anyone knows what synths are used in Chariots of fire?
Especially the bass and the string lead (it's the first two things you hear)

Here's a nice little diversion for you while I rummage around and find a similar sound in my old live sets...

That first lead sound is more of a brass sound than a string sound. I guess Vangelis used hardware synths for all of this - it was 1982 - but a software approximation won't be too far off...

In one of my old sets, I had a sound that reminded me of that Chariots of Fire lead, but on hearing it again, it sounds nothing like it! Anyway, just in case it's a useful starting point: I used the Ambient-Glasso Phone from the Live Instrument Rack with hardly any Ping, some Saw and full Sine and then a reverb (the Bright Reflections preset) after it. Might be a useful starting point...

^ Pitch Black is on the money... Same synth is featured in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJzcUvS_NU - Vangelis at the grand piano with a cup of coffee and a cigarette, those were the days...

It is the first preset on the JP8000.
