yum. damn and i am so skint right now, i would order one immediately.
I don't see an option for a 2.8 13"

Why pay all that extra $$$ for a couple extra .GHz anyhow?

13" alu $1499.00 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD and Firewire all you need for LIVE music... YEAH BABY!!!

The 15" has the 7200 hard drives.

It's safe to say that after the AIR-scare and the firewrie-free UniMacBook, that MAC is BACK on TRACK.

NO RS232????

FUCKING MORE YUPPIE MACBOOK AIR MANILA FOLDER SHIT FTW
hilarious.

Anyways the only reason i'm displeased with the lack of expresscard slot is the inability to expand the amount of ports. I myself am using an RME Fireface800 and an external LaCie drive, both connected through a FW800 expresscard... then using the remaining FW400 port for the Liquid Mix...

so you see... even though you joke, some of us "assbackwards people" still find use for EC.

That's alright, i guess I'll survive. I could probably end up getting the 17"... or just save some cash and get the 13 or 15", and just daisy chain the drive through the fireface.

The new models are looking good... I'm pretty sure the 13" will sell like crazy

what else is there the warrants so much disappointment?

i guess if your entire setup hinges on one of those things then ok but yeeah... maybe don't build a studio around expresscard??
UAD cards. And they just released a fancy new card that everything is in the card, no external box needed.

Apple is constantly doing this shit so I'm not all that surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly slap on USB3 ports that aren't backwards compatible with no supporting hardware available on the market yet.

Unless you are planning to have your phone double as your ipod (which will drain the shit out of your battery) then there's no real reason (currently) to get anything more than the 8 gig model for $99. I have a first gen iphone with an ass ton of apps and am nowhere near filling the hard drive.

I'm still a believer that the phone should be the phone and a separate ipod for your media player. I think it's asking too much of one device to be all things...plus a 32 gig drive is way too small IMO.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

3Gs - Audio playback: Up to 30 hours

2G - Audio playback: Up to 24 hours

24 hours of mp3 time seems fine by me, that'd be 2 days at least. probably a week since it would be mostly for my short commute and walking around town at lunch.

camera goes from 2megapixel to 3megapixel, adds autofocus, touch to focus, record VIDEO...

compass, meh.

it would double as my mp3 player with a smaller version of my mp3 library. if I get one of these things, I would have to use iTunes to manage the library, so it would be a separate (f-ed up) iTunes library. iTunes has a f-ing lame flat directory structure I'm not doing that to my mp3s.

my current phone sucks and my mp3 player is bricked, so this is an option, I guess.

My recommendation is to have multiple charging sources then, maybe not this extreme but 1 at home, 1 in your car, and 1 at work. Both playing media files and toying with apps can drain the battery quickly.

^^^ i have a 16gb 3g and use it daily for 1.5 to 2 hours on the net (mainly ableton forum 8) and e-mails) on my way to and back from work... do phone calls, send sms and use youtube a bit [all over 3g / edge], and it lasts for a whole day... i have one charger at work and one at home... that is sufficient...

a real sucker is youtube over 3g or edge, that can bring it down way faster if you watch / surf a lot on youtube. again it's way less abttery if you go over a wireless network... i am OK with the battery life... if i have days (not often, though...) where i only do calls / sms then it lasts for days...

If I tool around on the net and with apps for an hour straight it will bring the charge down to about half, but again, I have a first gen. iphone and I'm sure (hope) the battery life has improved.

I'll probably get a new one, not to be cool, but I've heard some of the new features in OS3 won't work on my phone.

you can point itunes to your mp3's, and disable copying them into the itunes directory, but they'll show up in the library, ready for syncing with your iphone. and you should be able to manually manage the ipod on the phone, i prefer manually managing my ipod- i agree with beats here, i'd kill the iphone battery, as my ipod runs for ~ 8 hours a day, so i don't use the ipod feature on the phone at all, but for what you said, it should be fine, just take your power cord with you to work, or get another one, hell, you could hook it up to a usb port on your work comp. although once a day charging *should* be fine, you could leave it hooked up at work so you always have it on full charge... but i wouldn't mind putting some movies/tv shows on it for long trips or whatnot, the screen is very nice. i charge mine every other day, every other phone i've had, i charged every 10-14 days, but that wasn't accessing the internet, or using the calculator, or texting. i'm sure if i just used the phone features, it would last a week...

the video feature looks really nifty, but it would cost me 500 bucks 8O not happening! if that wasn't essential for you, the 8g for 99 is a pretty nice deal, although there is a processor upgrade in the 16/32 models... it really is a fun phone, you wouldn't be a fanboi if you only had the phone  and your apc would have worked immediately if you had a mac

the cheap older version isn't a bad idea. I just bought a camera, all I need is a phone replacement and something to play my latest favorite albums.

my APC worked on the first night, how's yours?
