here's a new twist on the MBP 13", apparently the internal SATA connection only runs at 1.5GB/s, not at SATA II speeds (3.0GB/s)...
only really an issue if you are planning on installing a SSD, but still a sneaky move on Apple's part...

edit: it's looking like a firmware bug maybe...

do people reckon the 6MB shared L2 cache. of the 2.8Ghz 15" model is worth the extra dosh?
does anyone actually know anything/have an opinion about this? or do i need to trawl through some non-music forums?

apple are really good at making the people who don't have the new shit feel like losers. thats how they win. and they win with a little bit of indian giving. they take things away and then give them back in later versions. this has been happening for years with the VGA/DVI/minidi port. They just keep changing it so you have to buy new connectivity. now they give back firewire. maybe they will give back cd-r on an Air soon too...
... i got an old titanium 15" 2.4 refurbished model that has all the connectivity I want. imo that was a pretty good model. but it must hurt other companies a lot when apple keep changing the configurations. think of all the companies that are invested in express card products for mac... But it's the OS that has me by he ballz, I wouldn't go back to windows in a million years.

that's just modern marketing in general --- Apple just happen to be very good at it...

15" MBP 2.53 GHz, 500 GB 7200 RPM on its way. I'm pretty trouser stirringly excited. But in regards to the must have most recent thingy, my first gen intel processor imac is still doing fine in my home studio...

Ever occur to you that maybe Apple just made a bad call on taking the Firewire away from those machines? Maybe they totally underestimated the market demand for it. It was barely away long enough to make a significant impact.[art] wrote:They just keep changing it so you have to buy new connectivity. now they give back firewire.
