Well, first 8.0.4 seems to be utilizing my cpu more efficiently for some reason but I am still getting some dropouts even though my CPU is running very low...
@ 96khz i am getting random pops at a 224 sample buffer. I ran DPC latency checker during the whole session and it stayed far in the green the whole time, stating that the machine should be streaming without dropouts even as the dropouts were happening!
if i increase the buffer slightly the pops seem to dissapear but i hate increasing the latency, especially when my cpu is barely being taxed
i used the CPU simulator and test tone @ 80% with a 128 sample buffer at 96khz and not a single dropout during the test
please help!!
btw, i also got the same "serious program error" in 8.0.4 as I was closing it
I would also like to add the dropouts sounded different on 8.0.4 than ive ever heard before. usually i would just get pops in the past but i got a couple full dropouts which has never happened before
XP Sp3, Quad Core, 4g ram

Re: 8.0.4 same issues
I am experiencing the same issues. This is totally fucked up!
ABLETON, hire better coders and try to hold them.
Why did the Bitwig guys left your company? There of course are reasons. I hope you´ll sort that out quickly, otherwise you´ll loose customers. I promise!

I am having the exact same problem. So pissed.
Re: 8.0.4 same issues
im using 804 on a new macbook pro (after a niagara fall of troubles with a white macbook) and it seems to work good. cpu manage, audio etc.
Re: 8.0.4 same issues
Hi
just writing to say i am also getting a mass amount of crashing with ableton 8.0.4 on a vista machine. weird buffer stuff with audio playback, and soft synths.
i have not changed any system config at all since 8.0.3
its pretty full on, i havent lost anything, but i mean it crashes hard constantly usually while scrubbing, and sometimes just general playback.
i 1st started getting the prob while usinf ew orchestral silver .
weird buffer grinding / garbleing .cracks pops ect / u know th e sound!
i have newer had the prob before.
ever.
also softsynths are doin it now to
"circle" has been the 1st one to trigger the buffer noise.
and also "gladiator"
the machine while playing pack the track is fine the cpu is on 31-40%
and ableton's screen goes while and usually the track continues to playback fine!
but no keys work al all.and i get the rotating circle/egg timer.
then opening task manager the cpu reads 30-50% normal.
the memory reads 2.81 gb in this particular arrangement.
thought it is still playin fine but the screen is still locked.
i have now just looked at the application tap in task manager there is a new application running listed
"computer"- status "running"with the ableton symbol next to it.
and below that i have "the ableton project name" live 8(not responding)
though is still playin back fine but still with half white screen and time circle...........
now in resorce monitor i get the following
asus a8sc 2.gh 4gram 16mcache300gighd
cpu 20%
disk is jumping up and down
memory o hard fault 94% used
i have 4gb ram installed and have had for quite some time the page file set at
initial 4605mb
max 8000mb
since this problem i have tryed putting the page to system managed nad a lower setting .....
and nothing changed
tryed running on different audio interface and got the same prob from other asio interfaces and windows defult drivers.
also i thought it maybe a "full" drive thing ,so i took most things off and still got the problem.
i usually run a second monitor on the machine and disabled that.
got the same problems.
i get the
"serious program error has occurred" live will now close.sometimes also.
and a new one i have never seen.
"not enough memory to save" please close live.
so...... u try and close live and save at the same time when prompted ,and it gives you the same message.
"not enough memory to save" please close live.
a force quit/end task wont work ,so u have to rely on the old hold power button down.
re-boot
and hope that live gives u the option of opening the error set.
this is pretty annoying when your infront of it 48 hours a day....ha
since version5
.
i have never seen live crash like this its pretty bad
also the "transpose issue" was now fixed in this update.Case ableton145125)
that is also very annoying.
also
mouse pointer is sticking
in most places plugin menus ect
the browser locks on a very thin /narrow size and "cant" be dragged across to the right,.... so you cant read the names of files with long names.
im sure u guys know about all this stuff ,just thought id tll u its makein me sad.
it sort of feels like im usin a crack of cubase 5. ewwwwwwww..............
