I have been politely asked by ableton to "deSwear" my post, so that's the reason for the edit.

Just to be clear - I actually love Live 8 and have had very few problems when using 8.03 - so few that I though that I could upgrade recklessly and all would be well - Live 8.04 seems to be bad for my combo of plugs - just needed to let off some steam - a computer problem thing (live when you want to throw it out the window!)
Can you hear it?

Am I the only one happy with 8.0.4??? :(

Ok the 8 is very disappointing. They enhanced the cpu usage and only ubber soldier computers seem to get it ok running.

As subfunk said " people like the new features but about performances !!!!! that's another matter!

Hopefully I received a live 7n now I'm cool to prepare my live set crash free and I can use all vst I want without any fear.

But when I see all the undone things around ableton, It could be a bit scary:

-Share for live... inexistant for now
-Max4Live ... I don't wanna think about M4L with the current Live version 8.x.x_ what a mess!

From the deepest of my heart,
Be brave Abes and work on perfomance of your Program.

If it goes on like this, version 9 will drop the word Live written near Ableton

It's almost the case with 8 You can choose ableton 8 suite or Ableton 8 But don't expect to be confident on stage with it.

Really painful...

Wish you the best for the huge amount of work which awaits you for this tough task regarding performance.

No, I'm pretty happy with 8.0.4 as well. Seems to work much
better than 8.0.3 om my mac. With 8.0.3 it took ages before
I could start doing anything.. All buttons and everything
were just "dead" for nearly a minute after launch.

No!
8.0.4 is working very well on my PC and my Laptop, both with XP SP3. No crashes, no bluescreens, just stable working. :D

My problem with all versions of live8:

session view work causes glitches. stopping a drumloop -click; some audio clips always glitch when started etc...

so I won't buy it now, it's unusable to me

From my point of view 8.0.4 is good, even better than 8.0.3 on my Mac.
I see that problems mostly come from plug ins most of the times.
I think plugins today play the same role as downloaded programs into a
Windows environment. They can really be a PITA.
So how a software company can deal with this babel tower?
I do not know. To be honest I think that a software is stable
when it works as expected inside its boundaries.
Everything that comes from the outside can potentially break it.
This doesn't mean that Ableton should not care. The music software industry
is based on plugs and Live has to work with those but before saying
Live is not stable, let's run it w/o any plugin. Let's assess if it is
unstable as such or with other software.

nice it's all of my recent sets... I am very happy.
AU or VST? Both do not crash over here, which exact version of Reaktor?
If it's the latest one, send me the osx crashlog!

Cheers,
Dom

Btw, I'd encourage anyone from this thread who's having problems with Live 8 to contact us with a detailed problem description.

If you experience crashes or other bugs which you can reproduce on your computer, it makes sense to install the latest beta. Our beta versions are running an event recorder in the background which records every single mouse movement. We can playback these event recordings here and this helps us to see what's going wrong (at least in most cases). Being able to reproduce a bug is a basic requirement to fix something.

So if a beta version crashes on you, restart it and it will save a bug reporting Live Pack on your desktop. You can also force Live to create a bug reporting file if you go to the "help" menu and click "create bug reporting snapshot".

Send these files to us and we'll look into this.

Best,
Nico

Can you do this in non-beta versions?

Do you click "create bug reporting snapshot" after Live has crashes or before you expect it to? (Does it start recorded events after you click it or does it always record events and the click captures it?)
