APC40 creating high pitched noise

Post by wackraps » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:32 pm

Hello all,

I picked up an APC40 on day 1 and the device itself is making a high pitched noise. At first one might not notice it but if there is no audio playing you will definitely hear it, particularly if you lean in closer to the device. To be clear, I am talking about the APC40 itself making noise, not noise coming through Ableton and into the audio interface / mixer, etc. I anyone else experiencing this or is mine defective?

Thanks.

defective. is it the power supply or the APC? not that it matters except maybe you can get a new power supply instead of a new APC.

sorry.

Definitely the APC itself. The sounds seems to originate closer to the faders than anything else.

Is it 440hz? Maybe it's a built in piano tuner?

I've notice a very low white noise coming from my APC40.

When the room is silent and I turn on the APC, I can hear a faint hiss coming from the unit. It's really low. I thought it was coming from my speakers, possibly because I'm using a USB audio interface (Mbox2) and the APC is plugged into a power strip. Sometimes weird ground noises can come through the speakers. When I put my ear up to the APC, the noise is coming from it. Turning the APC off makes the noise go away. I'm guessing the noise is caused by all the lights inside the APC. My Axiom 25 is absolutely silent compared to the APC. This isn't really a problem, once the music is playing the slight hiss is drowned out.

Any other APC owners hear a faint hiss coming from their APC's?

Same thing with mine, in the front, near the faders.

I hear the noise lower as pads lit up...

I posted a few days ago about this problem

no,it's actually tuned to the universal frequency of 432 HZ,which resonates with the heartchakra......
if you get exposed to it long enough, you will rise in consciousness which results in less whining about bugs in Live 8.........

what serial numbers do you guys have? it's likely the number on the bottom of the bar scan

mine's not buzzing, serial number 825215 00238

the last number is probably the serial number, as in I have #238. the number before that might be where it was made, the date it was made, maybe the hardware/software rev # etc.

Got another one on order from Guitar Center; they offered to swap it out since I purchased so recently. Will post when I get then second one. Hope this isn't a design flaw..

Sorry to be harsh like that but if people here can't HEAR it doesn't mean the whine isn't here (cheer for the rhymes)
I suspect usual live giggers to be half deaf :( unfortunately
