I am noticing when writing my automation of about 11 tracks and 50% or so cpu use at about 160 bars into the automation the bar indication stops moving and the entire screen gets very slow and sluggish..It is very hard to write and arrange due to this..I'm on a Mac G4 1000Mhz..I think this is enough power..

Firstly I don't understand corect what do you mean by "writing my automation of about 11 tracks"? Do you recording automation data on 11 tracks at the same time?
But please have in mind what 50% CPU usage in Live means. It means that 50% of the CPU Power is used only for the Audio DSP part in Live. That means all the graphic, harddisk reading/writing, all other running programs and the OS itself have to share the remaining 50%.
In my experiences it's mostly not possible to go over 70% audio CPU usage on OS 9, also with other audio applications.
We're tried to improve the arranger/automation performance compared to Live 1.5 (where it was much much slower). and we continue to do it.

This is also very relative. Computers are always too slow -:). I can never remember to hear somebody saying "My computer is fast enough".

Thanks for your reply..I think 2.0 is a great improvement over 1.5 for sure just some weird bugs I'm sure you are working on..here is what I noticed today..on this same topic.I notice that that when I am recording my mutes and automation that the screen display "follow" and so on just freezes up..The audio continues to play fine..just cannot see where I am anymore in terms of bars etc..
I also notice when trying to "render to disk" I hit the "OK" button and about 220 bars and it only completes 1% then stops..The strange thing is if I run on my other less powerful system (Apple Powerbook G4 400) but different ASIO..(Apple) it renders fine and not as sluggish or screen display freezes than in the 1000Mhz Tower..(both OS9)..I am not sure if the G4 Tower ASIO (MOTU 828) is the culprit? Or maybe my older 1.5 prefs are interfering?? Any suggestions..?
