Audio Glitch during Tempo change HELP!!!

Post by CHARLIE! » Sat Jun 13, 2009 1:12 am

HELP!

Live V8.03
Macbook pro
CPU at normal levels ie 40%

I have a gig tonight and I noticed that when I change tempo with a midimapped knob I get audio glitches and crackling.

I dont know what has changed between live 8 and live 7.

My set uses a few features of live 8 so I cant switch back.

Anyone have any ideas my gig is in a few hours EEK!!???

I'm not having this problem on my MBP with Live 8. First thing to suggest would be to run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities Folder), select your hard drive from the list on the left and then click the button marked Repair Disk Permissions. It'll take a few minutes to run, and requires no input from you. Once it's through, give the machine a cold boot.

If that doesn't cut it, the next thing I'd suggest would be to re-install the most recent OS Update, using the combo updater on Apple's site. It's a big download, but includes all the assorted driver and firmware updates. You can find the 10.5.7 combo updater here.

Sometimes after an application crashes hard, programs or drivers can get a bit weird. Repairing permissions is somewhat similar to repairing the windows registry on a PC, and using the combo updater replaces your audio and video drivers (among other things) with known good copies of the most recent versions.

Good luck!

I think it has to do with the warping. I dont think its my HD as nothing happens when it is running the set.

I tried a reboot and it didnt fix it.

it sounds like it is like clicking as i change the tempo and not doing a smooth warp. Maybe it has to do with the new transient warp? the samples I am warping are in "complex" mode

EDIT

the cpu doesnt even spike its just some audio glitch

How did your gig go? I have had big problems changing tempo from 4/4 to 3/4. Changing just the tempo hasn't seemed to add glitches. Then again I'm work with mainly Ableton instruments.
