Darkest Sounds...The Darker The Better
Darkest Sounds...The Darker The Better
Well i need a lot of dark sounds,samples...
The darker the better...sounds that creep you out soooo much.
Sounds that make you feel scarred...Something soooo bad ass.
Well what i want to know if someone can recommend some good/awesome sample cd's,manufacturers, some hardware...???
I know that mostly everything is the same - all that matters is how you tweak it - BUT...i think that some hardware is made strictly for a more scary use...
Any help???

You can make dirty ass creepy sounds with a synth and some effects.
a microkorg and ableton live.

For VSTs, there is a free synth by Krakli called gargoyle, and another by H. G. Fortune called alionoctis, both of which have that horror thing going.
The Grain Delay in Live can make pretty much anything sound like it's dissolving in acid, also.

UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

Here's a dark piece I did using some Max/MSP patches. I was told by some friends that it's quite creepy, although its got some clicks n pops due to the patches I was using:

As for sounds, I'm not sure offhand, but I know Richard Devine has some sound design kits and his stuff usually has quite a fair share of harder/darker noises. He records for a friends label here in town so I've heard a bit of his personal libraries, which are insane.

The presets of Absynth are all over a large portion of horror movies. I guess you could take from that that Absynth is good for dark sounds and it's better to create your own sounds if you want to be original.
Also Guitar Rig is sweet for distorting sounds, plenty of Drum and Bass producers swear by it for those dark twisted basslines.

P.S. : Ohh and btw the Richard Devine samples remind me Skinny Puppy - Puppy Gristle.
And that's awesome.

As an OT... I'm selling my copy of Absynth for $50 if anyone's interested. It will include the boxes for 1,3,4 with all manuals disks etc. And yes, the library has TONS of creepy crawly noises sfx and drones. It's almost made for dark ambient.
