So... you recommend BeatMaker? I've been considering it, but it's a little expensive (I know it's not really, but I spend too much money on apps!)

If you want to actually write songs, then yes I think BeatMaker is worth it. IF you're looking just for a midi controller to use with Live, then there's a lot of better options out there.

Beatmaker is very fun to play with.
I'd say it's worth the money.

I'm Debating on whether to buy the beatmaker app. Looks pretty good. Is it the only sequencer?

I'd say the next closest thing would be iDrum for the iPhone. It does sequencing in a very cool way and also exports midi, but still quite a bit limited to Beatmaker, and you're stuck with the included sounds unless you also buy iDrum for your computer.

Does it really export MIDI Tarekith? I'd love to know how you get it to do this. Do you have to have iDrum for your computer too?

I find Beatmaker great, but I often just want an easy to use interface to program drum parts when out and about, which then lets me then export these patterns as MIDI to further tweak in Live etc. If iDrum really can export MIDI I can see this getting far more use for me than Beatmaker currently does.

First, the iDrum plug-in for your computer is dirt cheap, I think it's like $50. It intergrates perfectly between the iphone. You can import/export both MIDI and samples between both your computer and iphone. So let's say you bang out a cool beat and sequence on the bus on your iphone, when you get home export everything to your computer and use the plug-in in Live (or any other DAW).

No brainer.

Beatmaker has kept me entertained on many a long plane/car rides. It is a very impressive app imo and you can do a lot of cool things on it. My only real bad thing to say about it is that it needs a keyboard/synth section. The drum pad is a blast but its hard (for me) to write melodies just with a semitone chooser deal.

I didn't realise the the iPhone iDrum and regular iDrum could interact like this. This sounds like a really useful combination, thanks.

Got touchOSC, but have never used it. I think I installed everything right but all the steps intimidated the he'll out of me. Any tips on setting it up?

Also, do you guys put your own sounds in Beatmaker? Any tips on using it in general?
