Ive got the Hi Fi 450s. Theyre actually pretty awesome. Had em for year and a half now and they still give the sound they gave when I bought them. Great for studio but DJing theyre a little loose and Im a head banger so... well Ive had them fly off before.
Because Whatever.

I have the PROline 2500. They're nice but I don't like the fact the tweets are offset. High-end changes depending on the position on yer head/ears. I'm use to it now but still a bit fiddly.

Re: ultrasone headphones
My friend Joe's pair broke pretty early on. He got HD25 after that and was much happier.

Re: ultrasone headphones
from what ive read, the 550 is the same as the dj1 pro, just different colorsv00d00ppl wrote:whats the biggest difference between 550 and 650?
the 550 is "louder"
the 650 has better frequency response, especially in the high end
ultrasone seems to be using flash words like power vs linearity between the two
so its up to you

my main purpose for these is to jam out to either my mpc or ableton live....i tend to do a lot of sound design with samples for records and i like to make the sample unrecognizable.
the price difference is btween 95 for the 550 and 170 for the 650. So would u sy the 650 has minimal coloring? Will the 650 make that much more of a difference if i am listening to records on a hi fi cartridge?
i'm using crap sond MDR-V150 right now...how much better will either sound?

i have the pro 750 and i'm absolutely happy with it. the frequency response is great. The stereorepresentation and depth is really good for a headphone.
Re: ultrasone headphones
I am a long time user of the Ultrasone Proline 750 and I am NOT happy with them. At the end of the day I don't even understand the hype about this particular model. I've been listening to a variety of reference material with different phones, namely Audio-Technica M50, AKG 240 etc. and I should say the Ultrasone 750's seem to be seriously lacking in the upper midrange. Being linear is IMHO just a loud marketing word while the truth is entirely different. They also need relatively long time to burn-in, until you can actually hear clearer picture. Out of the box they sounded thin and too sharp. I also had experience that the cushions sometimes detach from the phones. The isolation is not superb either - the Audio-Technica M50's win in this department hands down (in 750's the higher frequencies leak out). The bass response of the 750's is also lacking in the lower department, while the M50's give a better picture in the 40-60 Hz region.nq wrote:i have the pro 750 and i'm absolutely happy with it. the frequency response is great. Having said that I am still using Ultrasones when making field recording work. I can still hear small glitches/clicks if they happen with them, and this is important when recording.
Overall, however, I think they are NOT worth the price. The Audio-Technica M50 is indeed a great value for the price they cost. (I paid about 350 Euros for the new 750's and US $95 for M50's).
Judging from my experience, for critical monitoring applications, mixing and sound design I would use open-type phones like Grados, AKG 701/1000 or Sennheiser HD 600/650's.

Re: ultrasone headphones
+1 for the Audio-Technicas (although I find the cheaper models like the M40/30s are a little bass-heavy)
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.
