latency in guitar recording!!!

Post by korbbit » Tue Jul 28, 2009 1:24 am

how can latency when recording external instruments be fixed?
-do i ABSOLUTELY need a new sound card?
-do i need a better microphone?
-do i need a faster computer?
is there a way ableton or another software can simply correct the recordings timing after its been recorded?
please help...
thnx

We need more info to help you. Be specific. What are the specs of your computer? What sound card do you have? What OS are you using? What are your audio buffer sizes (in samples)?

yes, there is a lesson called like latency correction or something, just give that a go and it will correct it automatically

Zalo is right about the lesson, and this will setup Live to compensate for latency after you have recorded, but if you need less latency while monitoring your recording, then your audio buffer needs to be the smallest amount possible. 512 samples is acceptable, and 256 samples good.
