How product-specific forums can go wrong

Post by posssu » Fri Jul 31, 2009 4:45 pm

Sometimes product-specific forums turn into moderated forums where you can only say good things about the product the forum is about (which is of course understandable). Anyway, I'm just really happy this isn't such.

It's really cool that people are allowed to talk crap about Live even on Ableton forums. You can talk about other sequencers, brag about and compare Logic to Live, talk about plugins... And still they don't get moderated or kicked out (as long as it keeps within certain limits, of course). If the product really is good and stands for itself (as I think Live is, even with its bugs and faults), it'll find its defenders.

Conclusion: I like this forum.

Sigh. Now I feel much better.

+1 indeed!

it's like if people self-moderating each other.

That way real moderators only have work in critical issues

i often think that too, especially when i get to check to NI forums - what makes the ableton forum works so well?.... it is kind of mystery to me.
