How can I get this rhytm?

Post by Kozak » Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:28 pm

Ok this might be a dumb question but I really need your help because I am getting too frustrated.

In the following songs the shakers seem to have a standard rhytm:

I can't seem to recreate it...I have tried rhytms, grooves....anyone got any ideas?

Hi there

Well there are a few ways to achieve that beat.I would recomend Vengeance Essential House 2 sample pack (VEH 2),cause its packed with a descent amount of percussive loops and Im pretty shure you'll find what you are looking for.Or maybe you can try MIDI sequencing it with impulse or drum rack (just add swing 16-1 it will give it the funky feel).Well good luck i hope i've had thrown a helpfull tip dunno.

hi. if you're using Live 8 and you're going to be creating a midi sequence for the shaker... extract groove from the soundfile and then drag the resultant midi file (the groove files are just midi clips) into a track with a shaker instrument on it. Just grab the first two bars from the youtube video. Its a top rhythym that innit.

Yes, those shakers sound nice. I can see how that would be hard to recreate through midi.
In other words, I like that beat allot and I wish I knew how to answer your question :)

I think I more or less recreated it with midi (with swing) and a delay on them to get the fast paced 16th swing. It took some trying out can't remember the settings of the delay atm...

Thanks for the help!

If you can, put a few bars (or even the project) online so we can hear it.
