Can Ableton Auto-Slice Audio Recycle style?
Can Ableton Auto-Slice Audio Recycle style?
Does Ableton Let you auto-slice audio to transients like Recycle? So if I had a loop I could slice up the different elements automatically and choose the resolution of the slices or transient markers? I seem to do all my audio editing in a vary manual way so was wondering if there's any quicker options. Thanks

you can slice to midi
choose warp
the warp markers are the transient detection.
if they arent detected than you can choose to slice by the note length or set the warp markers yourself
and you dont have to spend time in another program that should have been included with reason in the first place! double win.

Thanks for the tip. Shame Live's auto-warp isn't more accurate at picking up transients - even 4/4 always need manual adjustment.

Yeah it's not bad at all. Getting live 8 next week. Can you auto-slice silence from loops like in logic? I get the feeling live could do to have more advanced audio editing features to speed up the process. I could do with another 14 days to try some more stuff out with 8.
Does slice to midi give you a column of triggers for different parts of the loop or separate your loop into fragments? I should probably get into the manual more but i'm more of a watch and learn kind of guy.

Yes, ableton let you slice audio with transient, warp makers, or by rate. It's already awesome, but moreover, it automaticaly assign every slice to a key of your controler/keybord with drum rack with possibilities to go even further with sampler, effects, etc, on each slice. Simply awesome, recycle is dead. What used to take
15 mins takes now 1. This is definitly one of my favorite feature of ableton.

I've found the new auto-warping works brilliantly if you tell live where the first solid beat is - usually the kickAcid303 wrote:Thanks for the tip. Shame Live's auto-warp isn't more accurate at picking up transients - even 4/4 always need manual adjustment.
just ignore the start of the track if there is no solid beat (like a lot of tracks starting with no kick or the bass taken out etc) - you can deal with the start once you've found the main beat
I find even with tracks that aren't electronic/constant tempo I rarely have to do much at all
bear in mind Beats>transients mode is not always the best mode (depending on what you're doing)

'slice to midi' FTW !!!
seriously great function, think it showed up in 6 or 7 ?? so useful how it creates the drum racks for you in addition to slicing up the sample, = instant playability. love it.

I've been trying to slice acapellas to do vocal chops but it seems there's a limit to how big the audio file must be. Any way around this besides cutting up the clip?

I believe the only limitation is that live can't make more than 128 slices.dru wrote:I've been trying to slice acapellas to do vocal chops but it seems there's a limit to how big the audio file must be. Any way around this besides cutting up the clip?
Re: Can Ableton Auto-Slice Audio Recycle style?
First 128 controllable plugin parameters, now this?? Why not?
Re: Can Ableton Auto-Slice Audio Recycle style?
NEEDS SLICE AUDITIONING and then it will be proper
ctrl + left/right = select transient
ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients
ctrl + space = play selection
