Yeah - I think I know where you are in Lofthouse. I managed to get a cheap copy of Live 7 a while back with aload of the instruments bundled with it. I'd like to upgrade to 8 but times are tight! Do you write or DJ or both? What kind of music?

Mainly dnb for me but like all sorts....running Live 8 / SSL / APC40 / Audio 8 DJ, etc....

I've been thinking of upgrading to 8 for a while now (I'm on 7 at the moment). I'm a bit put off though about the stability issues some people have raised on these forums. Have you had any problems with it?

TBH...I'm fairly new to Live and v8 is my first outing. I used to use Cubase but Ableton just seems more forward thinking and provides a good way of converging Scratch Live and Resolume Avenue (for video mixing).
I've had no problems at all with stability. I guess the main difference between 7 and 8 is the warping method?

I think so, but they have updated Operator (one of their synths) and added a few extra audio effects units like Looper. I've been using Live for about two years now and have gotten rid of everything else. I used to have Reason and Logic running alongside Live, but like you say, Live seems much more forward thinking. I found I was never using the others so I sold them!

Yup, another one here.

I'm in Greengates between Leeds and Bradford and about 2 minutes walk away from Northern Contingent in Apperley Bridge. In fact, we should probably head to the Dog and Gun for a couple sometime.

I'm a guitar teacher but have been using 7 for a while now for my own music and have been writing more electro stuff for a while. I don't know too much though so it's be good to meet up with someone who knows what they're talking about so that we can swap ideas and I can get shown how to use this properly!

hey people i am looking to meet a fellow ableton performer and i came across this post, i am putting a band together at the minute and i am looking for someone to sync with my laptop who can perform and produce along side me on stage and in the studio i have a full albums worth of material and allot of support from my publishing company and session musicians involved in the album, we also have a live vj to take the show on the road and this is the final piece to the puzzle of CULTURGEN we are looking for (live ableton performer & producer) would be great if there was anyone out there wanting to be involved in such a interesting project
