Get an adapter to go from a mini-jack to a 1/4 inch jack and prepare to piss everyone right off

I was reading Sound On Sound and the stylophone is all over one of the tracks on Simple Minds new album, warped up with tons of effects, it's the main carrier of the song.

Haha, awesome, I had one of the originals when I was 4, I so wish I still had it. Might have to get one of the new ones just for reminiscence sake.

soo i tried hooking this bad boy up today. i used an adapter to go from a 3.5mm headphone jack to a 1/4 instrument cable, into my instrument input on my pre amp (presonus tube pre). But my signal strength was verryyyyyyy weak even with the pre amp cranked.. then distortion and noise just started coming in.. Any help people?

weak battery?

maybe a volume setting you haven't found yet?

are you using the proper stylus? it seems that one with too high of a resistance might maybe result in a low volume (I don't know how they're designed.)

mic it up, it's the only way to capture that distinctive stylophone sound.
