Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
This really makes me wonder if a lot of you XP/Vista users have problems with YOUR computers. I've been using Live 8 on my desk (XP-SP3) and Laptop (Vista) with absolutely no major problems (except the times I kept trying to run searches on my 11GB sound library and thought Live was 'freezing' and came on the board bitching how Live is crashing my system... until one day I actually let in finish registering all my files then all was fine). Granted, I don't use many plug-ins, but Live8 seems to be running fine. I keep my systems defragmented, updated with working device drivers, conflict free and use low-resource virus protection.
Yes there are bugs that are being fixed, but Live 8 seems to be running stable as hell on every one of my friends systems.
Now Mac may be a different story...

(Windows users)
If you can't get 8 to work you seriously need to stop whining and look at your computer set-up!!!
I'm running a BCF; a BCR, a Nocturn and 2x UAD-1 AND a UAD-2 and it works great.
(And let me assure you UAD cards need a bit of tweaking before they play nice.)
Did you do all the XP tweaks (such as setting Intel speedstep to OFF in the BIOS)?

same here. live 8.0.4 installed, using with apc40, remote sl zero, NI Komplete, Vanguard, Sylenth and some more stuffe, and I use it on a desktop computer and a notebook.
I produce my songs in live (arrangemend and session mode with midi, audio, vst, eguitar via line in through guitar rig), and also perform (session mode, mostly audio clips, but also some drum racks with samples and some vst's).
my only problem is (happend 2 times since i have the apc), that the apc somehow loses connection. you can use the knobs, but they don't do anything. but in this case, just open midi settings, disable apc as controller surface and then reenable it and everything is fine.
i had much trouble with live 8 on my old notebook, but the problem seemed to bee on the notebook (because i had the same problems with v6 and v7 on that notebook).
so pleace, before you bitch around, consider checking your computer setup. i nknow a lot of users, who doesn't give a shit about the state of their computer, but then they whine around, when performance drops or software wont works. I assume that in 90% of the cases, when someone bothers me about pcproblems, the problem is the user, who don't care, what he installs and so on...
and just to sum up, i think it is good, that the abes do betatesting for the minor versions . they want to keep a certain quality, and if they'd just released an update without testing, that breaks some stuff, nobody would be happy (i think that actually happened with one of the V7 updates). Thats why you do betatesting. And just because they're betatesting the update, that doesn't mean that the current version is in beta state.
for me, 8.0.4 is stable, can't complain about it. and as I hope, 8.0.5 will also be stable.
my 2 cents

you should report this apc disconnection bug_ could be useful
Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
I'm always using the betas's for normal work now, they start a bit slower but everything just works here. If I spot a bug I try to reproduce it, send it to Ableton, done. I mean it's self-interest as well, I don't want bugs. The only time I'm not on the beta's is if one expires and I don't have time to install the new one, then I use 8.0.4.
Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
Is the 48Khz bug with Fxpansion guru fixed by anyn chance?
I've filed a bug report some time ago and the latest news I received was that you guys were working together with Fxpansion to isolate the problem.
Problem description:
When trying to load Fxpansion Guru on Ableton 8.04 @ a samperate of 48khz Ableton would give a popup saying:
"Failed to create the audio unit "GURU."
This audio unit Plug-in is not compatible.
Any news on this?

Good one. I don't know if anyone has seen my post in the 8.04 thread but i think a lot of my problems were related to cpu throttling. I tweaked my cpu settings with the rightmark cpu utility and i8kfangui and live was usable but i was still getting spikes. Nowhere near as bad though. Since i put Live 8 into vista sp1 compatibility mode Live 8 has been great, cpu is normal but it seems to use quite a bit more than 7.. just glad to have a functioning version of Live 8.boomtchik wrote:maybe unabletonmusikmachine wrote:Jeezus H! The APC 40 MkIII is build as a beta hardware. It looks like a LEGO system box, you can change and exchange every element..
If you have a bug in a botton, put it in an envelope and send it to Ableton...
Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
The buggy button is already available as the (in)famous 'multi purpose button' in Live 8 looper...violetpow1 wrote:boomtchik wrote:yup and then we will have the APC 40 MKII and then the APC 40 MKIII 1 year after annoucement so I guess 2011 ^^
