This seems to be something simple, but maybe its not. I have a footswitch hooked up to the apc40 and I want to use it to control autofilter. The problem is, it only goes from one value directly to another - and doesn't move gradually.
I've used this same footswitch to do almost the same exact thing through my PCR-M80 keyboard and Kontakt and it worked as I would think it should - without having to do anything special.
Anybody have similar experiences? Any ideas?
help? Please?!
APC40 footswitch problem
Re: APC40 footswitch problem
i don't have an apc but there are foot switches and expression pedals..you sound like you got it hooked to the switch port that puts out 0 or 127 value and you need to be in exp. pedal port witch sends 0thru127 for knob movements...
Re: APC40 footswitch problem
Thanks for the response Agent G. You're right. I should say Expression Pedal - that's what I mean. Reading your post makes me think that maybe the two "Foot Switch" ports on the APC40 (labeled FC1 & FC2) were not at all meant to be used as expression pedals. I hope that's not the case. I can imagine some significant uses for such pedals. I guess growing up a guitar player puts your mind in that mode.
Anybody have any idea if this is the case?

Re: APC40 footswitch problem
Sorry... I'm pretty sure the FS inputs on the APC are 'switches' only.

Re: APC40 footswitch problem
HI there, not sure if this will work or not, all depends whether you can change what is essentially a footswitch into an 'expression' switch or not, but if you sift through this thread http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 7&start=15 you'll see a few of us have had polarity issues with certain pedals and the APC40 - if you try Midipipe you may be able to chnage what messages are transmitted when passing through an APC40 footswitch... I could be wrong but FWIW may be worth investigating...I don't have an expression pedal myself so can't test it!! All the best!

Re: APC40 footswitch problem
The APC40 has 2 footswitch inputs that detect ON/OFF states (MIDI 0/MIDI 127). They do not support expression pedals which can give you access to the range of MIDI values.
