Cracking and Popping Sounds?

Post by votan » Sat Aug 15, 2009 1:50 am

Live 7
Tracker Pre A/I
Windows XP

i just turned everything on today. and the only sounds im getting
are these clicks and loud cracks. randomly. very wierd.
ive had no problems previously. havent changed anything. (to my knowledge)
i have ableton running to my a/i then to a p.a. system.

when i change the audio options in ableton to "no device"
(i commonly do this so i can listen to itunes. its the only way i can figure how to do it)
i get sound just fine.

sorry if im being vague? im quite new at this.
thank you in advance.

most likely a CPU issue, if you are on a laptop turn up the power settings all the way

i would get popping on balanced mode but on high performance they disappeared

if its an audio driver issue....who knows what to do then, just download the newest drivers i guess

i found out
that it was because i connected a 2nd monitor.
only a VGA cable. and when i unplugged it
the problem was fixed.

so how can i have 2 monitors? and no sound issues?

I'm no audio expert, but could this be an "electricity phase" problem? Try to connect your external display to same power output with rest of the setup. EDIT: Oh, and placing a piece of duct tape over the "ground" of the power cable could allso help if electricity is the problem.

Or try to get newest driver for your video card.
