B.O.B. IS THE BEST SONG OF THE DECADE (says Pitchfork)

Post by PLacidBasilisk » Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:14 am

Thought Hey Ya would have been a better choice though. Nice to see Abletoners Daft Punk squeeze into fifth place. Your thoughts?

2nd Place: LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
3rd Place: M.I.A. - Paper Planes (Diplo Remix)

Don't you mean Shitspoon ?

Spoon shit.

Into gaping mouths.

Really? I beg to differ. They're responsible for bringing half of the good bands that emerge from the great sea of mediocrity into the limelight, and they're pretty consistently on the ball although they do tend to give inexplicably low ratings a little too often. I've experienced animosity towards pitchfork before but never with such graphic imagery. For that I'll give you credit.

This is a song that David Bazan (formally of pedro the lion) wrote about pitchfork's founder:

Selling Advertising

You're so creative
With your reviews
Of what other people do
How satisfying that must be for you
Am I a christian?
Are you a jew?
Did you kill my Lord?
Must I forgive you?

I know it's hard to be original
In fact nothing scares me more
Because Jesus only lets me do
What has been done before
The path of least resistance
Ancient holy wars
The same old easy targets
Yeah, we've all been there before

So if it starts to get you down
Just pretend
That you don't make your living
From selling advertising
Tracking trends
Corralling demographics
And maximizing traffic

Then if you get tired of making tapes for free
You can always start a band with me
Or anybody
we are all bound to do what we want most.

They sure loves them some LDC Soundsystem. I like them too but 3 of the top 20 or so tracks of the decade?

And "Losing My Edge" should be the one that's at #2....that song was/is brilliant.

this is so dumb. pitchfork dictates taste for everbody, and we just let 'em do it. TELL US WHAT'S GOOD, PLEASE! TELL US WHAT WAS THE BEST OF THE DECADE, WE COULDN'T POSSIBLY DECIDE FOR OURSELVES!

ugh.

sorry. but pitchfork just pisses me the fuck off.

Apart from the sickeningly direct stab at Schreiber's religion,
there's so many other things wrong with this song, First and foremost
of which is the redundancy of the penultimate verse.

What commercial website doesn't sell advertising, maximize traffic and
track trends? No one is being forced to read Pitchfork reviews and no
one is being forced to listen to albums which Pitchfork rates highly.

Sorry but that song fails, as do most criticisms of Pitchfork which
simply come across as snarky and resentful of some (largely imaginary)
hipster mass. If you're gonna criticize at least do it right.

that whole album is the only amazing thing to come out of rap in a long time

each song is a trip

crazy production values, no stereotypes, and straight from the heart.
