Nice Electronic & Acoustic Drums Plug-in recommendations

Post by mattstan » Tue Aug 25, 2009 6:19 pm

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some high end drum plugins for both electric drums and some acoustic. Can anyone make recommendations? I have been using some east west plug-ins and have been absolutely thrilled with their performance. Incredible sounding instruments all around.

for electronic emulations you can't do much better than the d16 versions of the 808-909..
for acoustic drums i am an avid fan boi of BFD...
Google them if you want more info, d16 has demo versions..

i can recommend drumular http://www.redshiftaudio.com/html/drumular.html

it's a combination of drumsynth and drumsampler, so you can load acoustic samples but you are still able to use synth-modules for electronic sounds in other cells. and it's great value for money as it's only 39$.

i think djsynchro is with me on that, he made some nice live-like skins for drumular. ;)

sorry, i just saw in your signature that you are on mac.. unfortunately drumular is pc only.

For acoustic drums, I look no further than Addictive Drums.
For electronic I like Maschine (previously Battery filled this role), Stylus RMX, and Drum Racks with my own built up sample libraries. Reaktor's a great source for electronic drums as well.
Professional Shark Jumper.

Darbuka and Latigo by Wizoo are both really neat, and they blend well with more typical drum loops to add flavor.

For electronic drums, Waldorf Attack and Sonic Charge microtonic are both really great. Not that expensive either...
Live + M4L, MacBookPro & Ultralite mk3. Plugins from Softube, Soundtoys, Eventide, 2CAudio, Cytomic, AudioDamage, OhmForce, FabFilter, SonicCharge, Waves, MadronaLabs, NI and ExpertSleepers. Oh, and a bunch of hardware... =D
