My question is will Ableton also be testing Live 6 with Snow Leopard? I haven't upgraded yet as Live 6 does what I need it to do and I'm not ready to spend a couple of hundred to upgrade Live just yet. Will there be an official word and fix, or are Live 6 users on their own with this one?Ableton’s Dom Wilms, Manager – Technical Support, writes CDM:
10.6 is not officially supported yet, as we’re currently testing it with Live 8 and based on the results we will release a free bugfix update during the next weeks that will officially support 10.6.
It’s likely that Live 7 will also be just fine with 10.6 – but we don’t want to promise this right now before the tests are all finished and us being sure that we can achieve 100% compatibility.
And yes, we also do not recommend upgrading yet if stability is crucial for the used system. In this case customers should wait until all third party software and hardware products are confirmed to work with the new cat…
We will come up with a little FAQ regarding those questions in our forum today or tomorrow.

Here's one more, who ist curious about Live 6 and OS 10.6.
Re: Live 6 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
At the moment we're concentrating on the current versions of Live for the internal tests.
In general you should wait for the first experiences of people trying it if you need a stable system or just give it a try yourself.
Live 6 was released 3 years ago and compatible with the current OS versions in that time.
But if Apple now changes something so fundamental in their OS that breaks their backwards compatibility with currently working applications, than it will just not be compatible with Mac OS 10.6 - it's pretty sure that there will be no update anymore for Live 6 from our side, sorry.
Best,
Dom

Re: Live 6 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Thanks Dom,
that seems completely logical, despite it's bad news for us
anyway thanks for your feedback,
let's get information about snow leopard's retro-compatibility...

Re: Live 6 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
I just installed snow leopard last night, and 10.6 seems to be running fine so far. But overall snow leopard has not increased the speed of my comp - maybe is slower, but I was able to do a good system cleaning. Will keep updated here if anything noteworthy pops up in my live'ing'. he.

Re: Live 6 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
I have just been playing around with Live 6 on new Macbook Pro using 10.6. Generally everything works much quicker as I would expect but Live keeps crashing. No consistent reason for this but very frustrating!

that is not what I wanted to hear.

Re: Live 6 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
I've upgraded to snow leopard last night and now I've been playing around with live 6 a little.
Live 6 keeps crashing.
For some strange reason, when I play with the tempo in complex mode, every second playback is full of artifacts. This applies to parts that I loop as well. Every second pass in the loop sounds horrible. Very strange...
Now I have to decide, whether to upgrade live, upgrade logic (for the flex time, since that's what I'm using live for) or downgrade OSX...
In short: Live 6 (6.0.11) and OS 10.6.1 on a MacBook Pro 4,1 is not a reliable combination.
Cheers
Sven
