APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
I left my power supply at a gig last weekend...Where can I get a replacement (preferably longer!)
Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
wow...
this thread is the most ecclectic one I ever saw
can I ask a question about my teeth brush? how can I midify it?

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
I second the Power adapter question. I use my APC both Live and in my studio and would like not to have to climb behind my rack to unplug/plug it in each time I switch between the two.
Also are there any gig bags for the APC? I think that Akai and or Ableton would make a ton of money if they made them.

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
Yes there is a bag, but It feels way too thin and flexible to protect the device, IMHO
Just received mine APC40 several hours ago. Loving it...
Arghhhh now I have to delete the previous midi mappings, if not the apc bugs and CPU meter goes crazy.
After all I'm glad to have waiten a bit, This way I've been able to identify some user's bug and directly solved.
Thanks to the share about first steps from the very first owners.
I like the touch of the pads, Can't wait to try the monomulator
Just one Dark point though>>> The French quick user's guide is full of annoying mistypos_
We could say Akai did use google translator for fulfil the task lol

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
Hi! I own an US apc40, next week will go in Spain for one month and I plan to bring my laptop and the apc40 too. So I'm wondering what kind of adapter do I need to use in EU? The store said I can use the cheap ones I can find in the airport. Please can anyone confirm this? Thank you
Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
We have 220V power here in EUrope. I think that's the only thing you got to check !
Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
I bought my APC in New York City and the PSU it came with accepts a 100v - 240v mains input, in other words anywhere within that input voltage range works.
This means that with a simple pin adaptor, my original PSU will suffice for 220-240 volt zones (Europe etc.) I'm using mine right now in Switzerland (220v) with that PSU, and it works fine. But do check your particular PSU first (the specs. are written on it)
Regarding buying a spare PSU, Ebay is probably your best bet and cheapest.
PSU Specs.
1. auto switching input (100v - 240v mains input) so you can use it at a gig anywhere in the world)
2. Centre positive (+)
3. 12 volts DC
4. Supplying current @ 2.0 amps
5. The lighter in weight, the better.
A quick search turns up this example: http://cgi.ebay.com/12-V-AC-DC-POWER-SU ... 999.c0.m14
Not sure if you'd have to change the plug which goes into the APC on this one though... so do check.
Cheers,
bagginz

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
If I look at the picture from Andy Kyte and compare his findings with mine it looks like everything is off by one octave. If I look at the numbers I found for the clip launch buttons for channel 1 they look like:arcadekid wrote:i went through apc40 w/ snoize midi monitor and i had different results. This is what i found the note numbers and CC numbers to be.
F3, F#3, G3, G#3, A3, E3. Also other buttons seem to be off by one of octave.
Does anybody know why there are differences? Because this makes sharing off maps tricky and how does Ableton Live handle this?
Also my APC seems to do send a note when I press the Track Selection buttons. Maybe a different firmware?

Quick question though......I currently use Ableton 8.4 so do I need to install the software that comes with APC40 or does 8.4 have all that built into it already???

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
I guess you mean 8.0.4. Yes, it is already build-in. Just select the APC-40 controller in de MIDI section under preferences.
