Ricardo Villalobos feature on Arte "24h Berlin"
Ricardo Villalobos feature on Arte "24h Berlin"
If someone is into his forward thinking clubmusic,
there was a ca. 36min feature on the Arte monsterdocumentation (24h!!)
which was aired this weekend. I aligned the Villalobos parts and made it
into one file. (should be legal - like taping some radio lighyears ago...?!)
it's really worth the time, as you get some studio insights, interviews and
parts of a dj set at the Panorama Bar.
enjoy!
Director: Romuald Karmakar

Quality: DivX 920bit/s Video ; 128kbit/s MP3 Audio

Re: Ricardo Villalobos feature on Arte "24h Berlin"
I saw parts of this "live" - thought the whole concept of the 24h Berlin thing was great, though there were definitely some more interesting parts than others.
For the Villalobos parts, was great to see his crazy speakers and his studio - liked the modular stuff too, but the rest of it, the Panorama Bar stuff, well, maybe for the fans...
But cool that you put it all together for those that want to see it...

Just occurred to me that to edit it all together, didn't you have to edit out the Artemis club sections - ah, must've been hard work...

Talking Arte- great docu last Sunday "swinging soundtracks" or something like that check the website ,since it will be repeated in coming days. Featuring Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Holmes, Barry and more, some fascinating facts, packed with film+music most brilliant moments, such delight to hear/see those scenes again.
Another fascinating film was shown 2-3 weeks back about Stockhausen, including some XXX gear pron- synths from 50s,even more interesting to see and hear how Stockhausen was using it lots of facts ,stories from people who worked with him from Boulez to studio technicians.

Arte was and is ace and nearly the only station worth watching (though i ditched my TV years ago)
you know the "Tracks" magazine ? quite worth too.
arte+7 is a good example of how media and therefore information should be accessible IMO.

Saw this, too. Was a really interesting glimpse in whats going on behind those doors.
Yeah, and those speakers rock. Luciano also owns them: almost 50K € !!

Also +1 for Arte TV

Re: Ricardo Villalobos feature on Arte "24h Berlin"
Hi Guys,
does anyone know what kind of drum controller Ricardo used...the one with the black rubber pieces. He had two sticks to hit on. It pretty much looked like a xylophone. Was it selfmade?
And I agree : ARTE is the only program I watch at the moment...it is by far the best
Thanks for your help
Uwe

You can watch it here:
(scroll a bit down and choose "00.00-1.00 Uhr", i think it was in there and also in one of he following:
http://www.morgenpost.de/berlin/article ... ucken.html
You can use the VLC player to play the video.
The whole thing is a 24h doku of berlin (6am - 6am) filmed during 05.-.06. of september 2008 where they accompanied just a bunch of different people which live in berlin on a typical saturday.
There was also Paul van Dyk in it, which seems like a pretty nice guy (even he is into trance )
He is in "00-01Uhr" and the "01.-02Uhr".
