i have come to the conclusion that we're always in the midst of violence. turn on the news, watch for a half hour and walk away. you will have just received 13-22 minutes of violence.

I've got mixed feelings about this Joe wilson stuff, I think that too much is being made of his comment but at the same time the place where he made it is suppose to be immune from those types of outburst and they've all taken an oath to uphold the integrity of the hall, I guess since I'm an obama supporter I wish he wasn't the first to have this happen but I would still think it was disrepectful if it had happened to Bush.

What is interesting about the 9/12 march, to me, was that they were marching against "corruption" apparently?

Considering we just finished 8 years of the most criminal administration in the history of our nation it raises the question...

It's interesting to me that the issues raised by this protest are being somewhat co-opted by the right-wing of corporate america now....all of this was being talked about much more rationally by Ron Paul and others before the election, and now that it's safe and loony its getting support from Fox?!

The right is continually exaggerating the attendance numbers to this 9/12 rally. It's said to have been at least 500k, probably up to 2 million. There's even a quote from a Park Service official saying it's the biggest rally ever in DC, and a photo of massive crowds. The irony is that the quote is lifted from a statement from the Park Service about the Obama inaugaration, which actually was the biggest rally in DC, and the photo that's going around was from the million man march! Now it's being spun by the right as an example of the 'left-wing media' lying about how big and impressive the turnout was. I estimated about 60k from the photos I saw, and most sensible reports seem to estimate about 60-75k. That's still impressive, IMO, but tarnished by the apparent need to inflate the numbers to make it seem like everyone in america agrees with these people.

btw, I thought Obama's speech on financial regulation/responsibility at Federal Hall was pretty good.

Heading towards domestic violence? I'm sure some people would like to see that happen, to twist it for their own ends.

I thought his speech was good too as are most of his speeches but the current climate has been very revealing in what makes a president powerful/capable or not, he's bent over backwards to reach out to republicans and to be so non-threatening as to make will smith look like a gangster rapper in comparison
but he's not getting enough tracktion for what he's putting out.
