great small mixer? approx - 12"x12" - 30cm x 30cm -
I'm looking for a good small mixer for live so I want it to be small - to fit in a backpack. 4 channels is probably fine - 8 is better. I know the Mackie VLZ3 fits this criteria, but I wouldn't mind something a little higher end. Any ideas?

might give Edirol.com a looksy as well they used to have some nice little mixers that doubled as soundcards that were flexible and cheap

Midas venice 12 channel (it's the smallest they have)
they have the best mic pres (midas xl4) and EQs in a for Live use designed mixer.
In that size mackie is above all those souncraft, A&H, etc. If you are after soundquality.
Midas cost serious money but it's worth it, otherwise you have broadcast mixers (in that size range!) but those will cost you from 10.000,- euros onwards...
