Works for me!

Not quite my design preference, but a place holder non-the-less. Wish I could get off my ass and make myself a site!!

Personally I would use different fonts for the (artists, contact, etc). I would also probably try for some sort of minimal background to grab some more attention. I would probably also change to the font for Tikka to fit it better with that minimal background.

By no means am I a designer to any degree, just my personal thoughts.

oke sorry if i come of like a bitch, but it's fucking ugly

i'm in art school so i might have become all snobby and shit but,

-the font is ugly, round and puffy is not as good as sharp and straight
-the colours are ugly
- the gradients used are ugly
- the whole shadow photoshop thing is ugly as well

Doesnt work for me personally, i wouldnt even check the music if i saw a site like this.

simple and efficient, if you're not a designer or anything why make it hard?

edit: do you have a logo?
If so, i would just build the site around that, like hover over the logo and text shoves out or something like that. It's flash based but with some tutorials you should be able to make something intruiging, and what kind of music will you be releasing?

anyway, opinions differ offcourse but i'm afraid a lot of people who are into music are also somewhat into art/design/good looking stuff.

no gay man would make a web page that looks that lame. while I question your sexual preference I don't question that you suck at web design.

btw you left your wedding ring in the bathroom.

^ yeah, sorry Rave, I like your music and that, but have to agree with Thomas' comments there.

Gay = good, right? So, your first draft site is very non-gay, sorry... :-(

as mentioned previously, the design is not very great. i would also get rid of tables and switch to css for formatting. for future reference use an external css file and try to make the code look cleaner. not a bad first attempt, good luck.

I think this is a good example. Another example of simple yet effective: http://www.city-centre-offices.de/drupal/artists

Rave wrote:OK guys I know where you are coming from i.e. very simple clean german esk design. Tis nice i agree, just want to try different things.

I have now killed the text and just left Tikka.

I may go minimal after that with just rekkid label sleeves.

god no!

no! german design please... you want to be completely tasteless?

make it sexy and don't copy lame artist / label sites... keep it simple and do your own.

Doesn't have to be clean and minimal, but if you're starting out, when you've little content anyway, minimal makes life easier for everyone. You can aim for a browser-hostile monstrosity like beatport, if you like, but you need a lot of content to fill that up. What other labels or other commercial website styles do you like, bearing in mind the content constraint?

  I really like the Ableton site. Find the NI one to be massively complicated overkill. In the days when I had to book regular flights via the Lufthansa website, that used to drive me mad... German websites just as hit&miss as other countries, look like.

Just taking the tikka letters and using that on the website is oke, but i assume you have graphic designer who does the label artwork?

hey Rave, i've been doing my own site for some time and discovered through lots of painful trial and error that design is the very last thing you should do. Lay out the content first, make content easily found and try to imagine how it will scale when it grows. After you have complete satisfaction with all of that, get into design.

If you consider design from the get-go before adding content you'll end up changing it a bunch anyway cuz your content layout will change.

Simply put, your artful balance will become unbalanced as you upload content so do that first. Content is half the look and there's no site at all without that.

if you want to keep everything clean and minimal is suggest you just find a clean and minimal font you like, and then use that for all the stuff, website as well

clean and minimal isnt as easy as typing down a word on a white background

and the style of font you chose reminds me a lot more of psi trance or dub, or maybe some wack rockband, not so much minimal and clean

yeah that was a joke, germans don't have taste nor humor you know

on the other hand most of the products made / developed in germany that look good are made by foreign employed designers, no joke, not all, but most.
