Reverse looping of clips

Post by Fanu » Sun Sep 27, 2009 7:51 pm

I'd love to have a reverse/backwards loop for audio clips (heck, why not even for midi clips!).

Simply, what I'd do is play the audio file backwards, towards its beginning, after reaching the end.
Simple yet very much needed, imho!

in the sample box of an audio clip, hit rev (next to the save and edit buttons)
the audio file is now reversed

for a reverse midi clip
draw a box around your midi notes
right click on the notes and click the stretch notes option
drag the notes backwards to the same length as the original midi loop
your midi pattern is now reversed

thanks but that doesn't create a reverse loop - that only reverses the sample.
i want what's also called a pingpong loop: it plays the sample till the end, then turns back to play the sample backwards and loops that motion.

you can do this.

just have to copy, reverse one, drag both into arrange, consolidate, and bring back into session.

a little bit convoluted, but it only takes about 10 seconds.

yeah, i know that :)
but the one i'm after would only take 0.5 seconds and wouldn't make you create any extraneous clips.
and i bet it'd be hella easy to implement.

they actually did that in Sampler...I'd just like to see that to be a feature of clips as well so I wouldn't have to use Sampler for that (or use the other, "do-some-work" method just mentioned).

I am not sure ... if you use warped loops than I think for the reverse loop the warp markers should be a t different positions than for playing it forward, so the copy thing seems to yield the better results ...
