Started work on maxforlive.com today.

None of the functionality or content is there but I got pretty far along on the look and feel today.

Any feedback?

EDIT: Some people have said they get a parked domain page. I think the DNS changes I did today have not replicated. But for most people it should work already.

The site looks nice. I will definitely link to you for the patches... We can make my site the community and the learning and yours the patch database. Looks great though..

Yeah man. I have no interest in doing forums and tutorials. I really want to focus on device sharing. The normal method of pasting the max patch as text in a regular forum post will break down when people go to search for particular devices. We know from the ableton forums how hard it is to find anything in general. My device library will have an ability to browse by all kinds of tags.

I already have a link to you on there.

Thanks guys. Getting a lot closer.

Looks like I'll have it ready by the time Max for Live ships. (unless I wake up tomorrow to learn it's suddenly out).

(sneak peak at adding your own device)

Can there be another category for lighting control devices? I'm working on a lot of these at the moment and I'm sure other people will be.

Not a bad idea. I was thinking of adding a DJ Device category too.

Perhaps a category for "Interface" - M4L devices built to take data in from common interface hardware (like the wacom tablet device i created, demo shown here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5FiC563GgM ) lots of other devices could be made for this category e.g. Monome, APC40, Launchpad etc.

Great site though!

Re: maxforlive.com - beta

Post by synnack » Mon Oct 19, 2009 4:18 am

Hi guys.

I have the base functionality of the site working now. There are over 40 registered users and the only devices I posted are just to test the site.

If anyone has a minute to mess with uploading their beta devices just to test the site and giving me some feedback that would be awesome.

Getting closer!

BTW, as requested, I also added "DJ" and "Hardware Control" tags which should cover the lighting and tablet control scenarios mentioned.

Having difficulty with the device name when trying to upload. Are spaces not allowed in device names? And is there a maximum length?

Also, is there a way for us to upload a screenshot?

Do you mean the "Device Name" that you specify in the form? or The actual file name of the .amxd file you want to upload?

I did a simple test here spaces work fine in Device Name and the maximum lenth is 50 characters.

http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=52

Or are you talking about the file names?

Update: Just tested with a device file with a space in it's name and that worked too:

Screenshot support is top of the list on next features. Here's the full roadmap I have planned now: http://www.maxforlive.com/about.php#roadmap
