Re: I confess...
What? Sounds like you got "fine" mixed up with "license fee" and "healing code" with "legit serial number". There is no way to fry your audio hardware btw.4.33 wrote:i've been thru this before.
turned out i had to pay a $274 fine to ableton in order to receive the healing code which unfried my soundcard
Have fun guys (and gals?),

Now that I'm reading 4.33's posts again, I'm wondering if he's serious or having a good laugh at all of us.
However, it's getting late. I'm out. Will check back when the thread hits 100 pages.

Re: I confess...
I was saving my first post for a thread like this.
I can sleep safe in the knowledge that my first post was not wasted on some noob question.
Thank you kind people, you make me smile.

I shall try what you suggest. I'd really like to think it's not ableton's fault, and I'm halfway convinced it isn't now.
I'll try a reinstall of my naff realtek soundcard's drivers. who knows, might work.
Man, people have been suggesting that to you since page one, but you're either too paranoid or having a good laugh at us.
<double take>
Hilarious thread, though.

Lol, at least he has the guts to admit it.
But to come here and ask for support is way beyond lame.
Besides that, with only 5 posts to start this tread.. heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh i dunno lol
These kinda openings posts get lots of response, he prolly knows that.

Re: I confess...
I get what everyone's saying but I'm a student, I live off the cheapest of everything WITH a job...
I study music and I use ableton 7 and it's cracked... I've almost got enough for a real copy so it shouldn't be an issue very soon but the fact is I just couldn't afford it and when it's available for free people will take it.
If I was making money off my music I'd hand over the cash in a second, it's worth way more than the RRP in my opinion anyway but screwing peoples computers comes a cross a little extreme to me...
I put it to the forum that with one of the biggest and baddest forum community's around that we try and sort something like this?
I honestly can't begin to think of a solution but maybe i'm missing something?
Anyone got any ideas on this?

Re: I confess...
There's not a problem. There's two paranoids guys sitting in front of their computers thinking Ableton has the keys to the guts of their machine.
The solution is not to use a crack...'nuff said. If you use the crack, you take the risk that your computer will catch herpies and start broadcasting your credit card number and naked pictures of your girlfriend throughout the known universe.
I get the whole, "I don't have money and anyway I'm not a pro" argument, but I'd argue that for 95% of people in the developed world that's a totally bogus excuse. Live is just not a very expensive piece of software, its certainly not anywhere in the league of many softs I use on a professional basis which can cost thousands for a license!
For middle class people in 3rd world countries, with a currency that can in no way match the dollar and the Euro, I am a little more sympathetic...
