Sorry to hear of the troubles you guys have been having with 8.1.

I thought I would mention that I have just done 4 shows with 8.1 and had no problems except the Glovepie program running my wiimotes making clicks- I disabled it, restarted it and they went away.

All clicks with looper that I had with 8.0.5 - 8.0.8 seemed to have magically been resolved too.

So, for me, 8.1 has been very stable.

I have been staying away from using too many 3rd party plugs as a safety measure though....

No need to PM me. There's not much I can do for you apart from helping to figure out what the variables are for your problem.
Its the same thing support does, but they got case files, notes and actually get paid for it. ;)

As for the cost of calling them, you could always ask them nicely to call you. Not suggesting it'll work, but stranger things have happened. And besides, these are pro's. It probably won't take more than 10 minutes.

I suggest you check out the preferences of all the audio applications you're running, including the specific audio application or driver for your soundcard. Check if all the bit- and sample rates match up. Also check your audio buffer settings. Either start from 512 samples or calculate your latency. There's a lesson for calculating latency in Live.

Your problems seem much worse than mine, and I'm pretty convinced my problems are down to the firepod's device driver. I know straight away when I have this problem because Live takes ages to load, but if I turn off the FP it finishes loading instantly, I can then turn the FP back on, reselect it in preferences and I'm good to go. Been recording arranging, editing and whatnot for a good few hours tonight with no problems at all. As long as I remember to reset the FP before opening Live I generally have no problems.

Another thing that makes me think my problem is not with Live is that the FP occasionally gives me the silent treatment even when I've not used Live. Often after using the Flash Player in FireFox.

I would guess that you have some combination of that problem and something else.

Just a random brainwave, Have you got windows audio set to use the firepod? could be interference between the MME and ASIO drivers.

For the Audio dropouts I would recommend getting a copy of DPC latency check utility (google it). If it shows that you have a problem try disabling some non essential devices in the device manager and then run it again. With a bit of trial and error you can see which device is causing the problem. On my sony laptop the built in camera, wireless network adaptor and the battery management are the worst culprits.

Also worth killing any unwanted processes in the system tray.

How soon the corresponding log will follow?

Hi crumhorn,

Im familiar with this problem, but it doesnt usually affect my music software like this (when it does , the software usually displays a message stating the audio interface is not connected)

There is something in ableton causing this problem, I understand with firefox and flash, but there should be no reason for the muting of live, ive tryed to call ableton support line, but it didnt work.

I will keep trying the options suggested, thank you to those who have helped me, if you have anything to add, maybe do it in my thread, id hate to hijack this thread...

Is there anywhere I can download 8.0.8 or 9?

Gave 8.1 a go, completely useless, but got a Launchpad arriving today...

8.1.1b2 may well be better.

I would not be surprised to see 8.1.1 final available next week, as there are some pretty bad bugs in 8.1

Didn't use it long enough to find any bugs, the UI was really slow and unresponsive, so no way I can use it. So nowhere to get 0.8 or 9 then?

I would expect that if you send email to [email protected] explaining your situation, they'll do something for you.

Did anyone else notice that the "invert range" command (map mode in a rack) only affects one of
the two values in 8.1? (Let's say 64 and 127, for a simple on/off parameter; clicking "invert range
gives 127/127, not 127/64)

Cool! Did you also notice that the feature request in my sig still isn't implemented? :P

Oh, and no need to reply, I know you'll probably want to get cracking a.s.a.p. to get this
included in the next beta, so let me just save you the trouble:

Thanks, we're now working around the clock to incorporate multiple midi clip transpose in the
next beta. We're terribly sorry it's taken so long.

the Ableton team
