I'm bummed about the single output on the Nord Drum as well. Seems like a weird decision, although I guess the rationale is that it's for drummers to add some color to a live performance, rather than being intended for studio use.

I'd rather put that money towards half a Tempest anyway.

I'm really excited about the update on Roland HD-1 V-drums, they are introducing HD-3 Lite! It's just as compact as HD-1, but with (according to their words) better feel on the toms (now fabric-coated or something) and bass drum. Snare and cymbal now have two triggers, so you can play rim shots and damp your cymbal with your hand.

This is just what I've been waiting for for ages and now they finally deliver!!! Will be really cool on stage and easy to take around and it's really quiet so I can practise in my room without disturbing the neighbours...

I've been thinking about doing this for a "computerless" electronic kit setup:
Roland PD-8 triggers (Facilitated by Tom Stands) / Roland KD-9 Kick (Iron Cobra Single) --> Alesis Trigger I/O --> SM Pro Audio --> SM Pro Audio VMachine --> Sonic Charge Microtonic --> Vallhalla VST VallhallaRoom

Unfortunately I'm not sure if those two plugins are supported by the V-Machine...

I like the tech behind what's going on there but damn I wish they came out with some more organic designs, something that looked like wood even if it wasn't i dunno, i just find it hard to feel right sitting at v-drums

Still nothing beats an APC40 or a Launchpad when it comes to Ableton.For the price of a LC1 you get at least a mint used Launchpad, new they're almost in the same price category.With the LC1 you only have a 4x8 grid, no dedicated scene buttons and it's questionable if you can scroll through the grid at all.With two LC1s or LC1+MM1 you're already in the category of a used APC40.
The LC1 would be the killer if it had an 8x8 grid, scene buttons and was priced around $150 - then it would probably beat the sh** out of the Launchpad.

Is aftertouch really a necessity? I guess any extra expression controls are nice, but hrmm.
I've never used a controller with one, and I'm in the market for a new compact controller. I'm considering the Oxygen 25 v3 given it doesn't seem to have the issues that the Axiom's have, but the Axioms definitely feel better subjectively, they have aftertouch, and perc pads.
