And by the look on this guys face, he is actually coming every time he touches the keyboard

Well, it's a low cost Moog, but I see your point. Title changed.

Very tempted to get the new MS-20, like you say, very affordable for a an analogue synth.

Me too. I am more interested in this than the Moog.

Shit i wanna get them all. I already thought analog 4, ambika and mopho x4 would be too much for my GAS, now NAMM is coming up with sub phatty, prophet 12 and that totally incredible ms-20 reissue!

Waldorf finally releasing pulse 2 would give me a heart attack right now. Incredible times for analog synth lovers! Why oh why did i get a mininova?

Edit: ambika is hybrid, but anushri is analog

The MS20 Mini is really interesting. £500 for an analogue monosynth with keys?

No interest in the Sub Phatty though.

The Prophet 12 is just wow. It`s a want to have, very high on my list. There are not many polysynths with those capabilities.
The price is ok for what you get.
But I am still waiting for my ordered Dark Time and Darg Energy 2. Both should arrive next week.

beats me wrote: If you have the money and you’re into hardware and Moog then that is cool. I have an irresponsible amount of redundant Apple hardware. And just like Apple their shit isn’t cheap, but if you’re looking to get an entry level Moog (what are there, like 3 in the $1,000ish range?) it’s confusing and it sounds like each has their shortcomings. They should just slap the best features of all 3 in a single unit, maybe offer it with or without a keyboard and be done with it. Then move on to their $2,000+ flagships. The way it is now it just reeks of milking things and trying to squeeze more money out of users.

I’m sure the sound is great and unique and I see the advantage of having instant hardware access to parameters, but what I meant by getting a similar sound out of software is the sound of an actual Moog isn’t going to be career changing if you know your software plugins well.
Hmm? This is weird? it's like Apple stole all your love for well built purpose specific items with huge price tags and left nothing for Moog? Here's a HUGE advantage of hardware, and Moog in particular, their stuff doesn't lose much value when it's 4-5 years old, and when it's 15 years old it's worth 2-10 times what you originally paid for it. It sounds like a Moog, there's no emulation, sampling, or aliasing involved, and this is the huge part, they're just really fun to play.

I write with soft synths, and I play with my Memorymoog. That 'play' translates to a good half of the songs I've written in the last ten years. Plus Moog is a great company, nobody I've ever talked to has ever had anything bad to say about them in terms of customer service and how they deal with music shops etc.

But the midi spec is shit. Note-on only.

My "vintage" ms20s with their Kenton boxes do better than that. Good luck sequencing filters or ring mod /pitch 2 mod with no midi cc anywhere to be found.

I honestly don't care for midi. I just want to record a synth like I record a guitar.

I would go with an old analog then. Generally dirtier sound.
My wish list synth in this category:
