the trick is to think of yourself as having the "flu" or a bad bad illness
it will go awayand there is pain and there is nothing you can do about it
in reallity you are sick from the withdrawl..
when i quit smoking (1998) after smoking 1 1/2 packs a day for 7 years this is what worked for me
when ever i felt like shit i told myself "because you are sick, so you feel like shit"
and it helpd
the first 3 months is the hardest then the "habitual" aspect of smoking goes away....

hey tricil,
don't beat yerself up. if you feel bad you might be tempted again. Put it down to experience. you'll get there !

Dudes, this is inspirational.
8 pages of posts in such a little time...
Both my Mom and Girlfriend are ex smokers. Both of them, I really tried to support them, and they both say it helped. For my Mom, it was nuts - she smoked from the age of 15 to 57, about a pack a day - sometimes more sometimes less. Ultimately, she quit totally cold turkey, and I thanked her everyday for not smoking. She's in her 70s now, still a non-smoker, and I'm totally proud of her!
My Girlfriend on the other hand, was a light smoker on and off for only 4 or 5 years (I think, she started before I met her). Anyways, I won't date a smoker, so when we met it was fortunate that she had just quit. There was a prominent statue of a bucking horse in our neighbourhood, and she bet a bunch of smoker friends that if one of them started smoking again, they would have to get on their knees and suck the thing's cock in broad daylight!!! (They were drunk at the time... what a classy lady!) Anyways, every one of her friends relapsed, and didn't follow through with their promise to felate the statue, so that empowered her to stick with it.
My point is, support is almost always helpful, and I wish all ex smokers (whether it's been years or hours) the best of luck.

I talled my kids and ex about this thread when I was looking for a tent at their place, and they were suprised - a music program forum?
Yeah!
Live is for Life!
In about 2 hours I'll be entering my day 3.
Headache still is here to be my company...
Tomorrow I'll go to the Norberg Festival and mingle with
* Frank Bretscheider (DE)
* Ryfylke (NO)
* AGF/Delay (DE/FI)
and Olle Oljud will perform on the Kraftwerk scene!
I'm nervous... but I'll be there without nicotine...
I think when that trip and day is over, then I'm out on the other side.
I'm chewing ginger... may switch to garlic...

I'm stepping over to day 3.
Feeling - murderous... and friedly to small bugs... and today a saw one dead seagul AND a dead hegdehog when going for some beer...
But I'm still alive.
MY headache is almost killing me - but... an ache is just an ache... Would Columbus have turned back because of some head ache?

the sea is a scary thing
anyone without a healthy fear of it needs to reconsider IMO
just came back from a 230am trip to the beach to do some serious thinking...
i looked at the sea - looked at the fags.. (rolling tobacco)
thought about my children then looked at the pack again..
i smoked one on the beach it tasted disgusting as usual...
whilst i was smoking it reminded me of a baby sucking a nipple...
and i aint no baby no more so....
i looked for someone to give the pack to on the way back....
couldnt find anyone.. totally dead....
i found a pair of shoes instead.. (!?)
i dont know why ..
but i needed a pair cos i messed my other ones up in a 2am swim the other day... what does it mean ???
after that i was walking past a bench and i saw a lone wheelchair there and a guy asleep...
odd... a guy with a wheelchair... with nowhere to go...
then i thought - probably caused by an addiction...
i dont think ive seen that many times...
that was my last one for a while..
one day at a time man...
we'll see...
GO! GO! GO!
