I will sugggest the Candian citizen Maher Arar, who was held in secret detention in Syria for over three years.

We grab the wrong people all the time. In fact, many say we grab more innocent civilians than "enemy combatants" at a rate of about 100-1.

.

The problem exists due to the enormous lack of oversight. We were giving away bounties for people to bring in "enemy combatants". It was and is only in KBR/Halliburton's best interest to have their detention facilities filled to the rafters with anyone they can grab. The more prisoners, the more money to be made.

A very unfortunate byproduct of terrorist activity is that governments must take extreme precaution against those who could be members of terrorist groups...I have no problem with someone being deported if they could possibly be linked to terrorist organizations...did the US torture him? no, we just said "if you have links to terrorism...get the hell out"...are mistakes going to be made, yes and its unfortunate...the alternative I guess is to get rid of them AFTER they've blown up another trade center or hijacked planes...

I'm sure you'd have a problem if it were you or a brother, or parent or child, being falsely accused, and then YES, tortured for three years by the Syrian government working with USA secret detention facilities.

"The world of Islam has a demeaning and false stereotype of us, and we have an even more demeaning and false stereotype of them. The result, is a "dialogue of the deaf."

Man, what a shit-stirring waste of time. I'm not quite sure if The Last One is taking the piss or not - it's a problem with conservatives, sometimes you can't tell. Are you a person with a brain pretending to be a stupid American (as some sort of social experiment), or are you just a dumbass?

I haven't read any more then the first page btw. I couldn't be shagged.

Some of you Americans (read, SOME) don't realise that your political ideas are a joke to the rest of the world. It's a pity really, since it's the rest of the world that has to suffer for it.

yup. I'm shocked that my ridiculous post even got a response, let alone several pages. I should have hammed up the redneck cowboy "we'll make your country a parking lot if you don't agree with us" angle.

I'm running a campaign to rid the forum of OT rubbish. As such suggestions usually meet with moans and groans about "no censorship" of the verbal diahorrea that people insist on spamming the forum with, I'm instead going to contribute to all the irritatingly stupid posts myself; hoping to tip the balance in favour of a OT-free forum for Abe-lovers to discuss Live and nothing but Live.

Peace. Bill Clinton for the first man. We can live with Hilary as President.

Without strong Republican leadership combatting terrorist cells in our midst and overseas, the threat will succeed. We've succeeded in building up our defenses, let's not vote them away.

I'm voting Republican to protect our homeland security AND the moral fabric of our society.

Liberalism might be the popular fad of easygoing laissez-faire, but it takes guts and focus to protect the nation.
Ima vote republicin coz theys beleeve in JEEEZUS and read the biiiible and I ain't no tree huggie hippie!

Oh, you're an idiot.

Think very carefully before voting in a confused ineffectual underdog on no other criteria than they are the underdog.

They are after all the underdog for a good reason.
And oh yeah, the majority of us have thought very carefully, and for very long. Me personally, I've been thinking and learning and decided oh... since Gore/Bush 2000? You know, when Gore won that thing called the popular vote?

Be careful who you call an underdog -- the majority's voted Democrat in 2000, was behind by a mere 3 million voters in 2004 and Bush currently has an approval rating that's in the basement.

Perhaps it's you voting the underdog?

Wrong, we're way down behind Japan, The Netherlands and other places.

We're one of the last countries to execute the insane, let alone the competant. You call that great? Is that what you'd like to put on display?
technology.
Nope, Japan and China are killing us in that department too.
Do the math. THAT is why we are the dream for others; inventiveness and progress and human rights.
Math? You can't even spell. And although we are indeed a beacon of inventiveness and progress we're no longer a leader in it. And human rights? Uhhh, Camp X-Ray anyone? Are we ever going to give these people a trial or are we going to hold them off-site per loopholes in UN Resolutions and let them rot?

And BTW, Iraq as a populace is slated to lose 650,000 citizens from this "emancipation crusade" we're waging over WMD's that were never found.

Tell you what -- why don't you come back in 10 years, after you graduate college, after you get out from daddy's umbrella and start thinking for yourself. Because it's quite obvious that the ideals you're holding, you cling to with no fact whatsoever and you've never spent even an instant trying to educate yourself on the facts.
Not to mention, we have dentists! :D
You're not a spokesman for my America. You belong to that other place.

Looks like the anti-patriots are going to control the senate.

The voters are committing treason against the president in a time of war.

Democrat campaigners should be ashamed for their negative spin adverts that have duped the public to twist the electorate into weakening our defenses against the terrorists. Shame on you.
