The short and thick of it is: both are good. Both have flaws. Both have different software. You should have both. You should be able to use both.

Tweak has a great article about it:

Yeah, that must be why a Core 2 Duo destroys a dual G5 clock for clock. Maybe it was different 10 years ago, but...
Your missing the point....I said PowerPC is a superior architecture (which is different from 2 chips from 2 manufacturers being different in speed tests). It holds many advantages over X86!! Difference is, Intel make X86....IBM don't have the 65 nano meter process, etc.

Your point is exactly the same as me saying 'A PowerPC G5 chip destroys a Intel Pentium 2 processor clock for clock'. All the intel pentium chips use X86, as do the Core 2's, Clock for clock they provide dramaticly different results!!

well, I've heard this before, but it seems as if it's purely academic when you could simply just do more with a PC up until macintel - I dont know how you can call the IBM ones superior when for the end user it doesnt actually mean anything useful

Live was always a good example here because the PC performance was so much better

the ultimate irony of course being that the overwhelming majority of Ableton employees seem to use Macs!

bashing trance? curious...all I said was you can make better trance on a mac - how is that bashing trance, unless you're saying Macs are garbage - which I didn't say...

Such as? Is it more efficient? easier to optimise for? better at scaling to multiple cores?

It's all very well saying it's "superior", but I find it hard to believe when PPC is getting its ass handed to it in every benchmark. I think you mean WAS superior.

The one thing that does annoy me is the lack of right click - but then i plug in my USB 2 button mouse and hey - i have the right click back again.

No probs

I write industrial/rhythmic noise, I used to use a winbox for writing it, I switched to macs as I needed a new laptop, and well.. I'm hooked, and yes I used to be a biggot that hated macs because I never used one..

Now owning two macs (desktop & notebook) I can't honestly see myself going back to windows, not that I hate it or anything? but I honestly have no reason to..

Granted I got Vista RC2 sitting on Parallels Desktop, so yeah, best of both worlds i guess...

Now that the UB stuff is starting to appear, I'm pretty much going to delete my xp partition and kiss goodbye to Windows forever. I much prefer working within OSX.
