yep, unless Props get over their stubborn refusal to be compatible with anything other than rewire slave, and not take audio in, I can't see me using it again - unless v3 proves otherwisenosuch wrote: I just wished i could use the reason instruments like vstis in live....

Well Propellerhead better move fast. If Ableton start taking pre orders the game may be over by the time Reason 3 is out. VSti or not.Anonymous wrote:yep, unless Props get over their stubborn refusal to be compatible with anything other than rewire slave, and not take audio in, I can't see me using it again - unless v3 proves otherwisenosuch wrote: I just wished i could use the reason instruments like vstis in live....

yep, although to be fair that's not impossible - they do seem to be quite secretive in what they do - no versions .****, they do their beta testing privately and hardly do small updates but don't seem to have that many bugscmusicmaker wrote:Well Propellerhead better move fast. it is still one of the most stable apps I've used and maybe thats actually because they dont integrate with anything. But I don't think they'll survive long if they don't bring in these kinds of features. But then I''m no expert.

Uknowwho
Actually I think this would be Propellerheads Smartest Move ...
1)Keep it a closed platform with rewire for those that need it but.....
also make any rack device removeable and useable as a single vsti
in a given audio app. Lets face it having Redrum ,NNXT ,RV7000 and
Maelstrom in either Reason stand alone rewire mode or as a VSTi
would be pretty dope.
2)Re-do the Oscillators in the Subtractor and recode the filters.
The ideas great but it lacks bite. On the other hand as it is it's a
superb digital/analog hybrid sounding subtractive unit.
The bass doesn't quite bite enough but I can still get plenty of
great sounds out of it.
3)A new mixer with better summing codec ,inserts etc etc etc
4) My favourite idea. We have Rebirth,Reason,Reaload,Recycle.
How about REMODEL.............
Essential a second app designed by Propellerheads.
This would be like Tassman but with Prop's coded building blocks
and differnt skin templates with modules for everything from
additive ,too fm ,to subtractive ,modular ,modelling and hybrid
models and effects generators.
The end user would use remodel to create 100% custom synths
that sit in the Reason rack without any of the possible VST host
compatibility conflicts that may arise.
If the Props kept their code tight like they have done this would be
simply awesome.
5) An improved midi spec ,with midi ,delay ,midi beatstretch, cannon ,
reversed cannon ,dual cannon ,mirrored ,major and minor midi
counter point modes in harmonic and in harmonic varients.
Plus a slew of midi CV/Modulators for clock dividing tasks etc etc...
If the Props do something in the league I guarantee you they'll stil be in the game in a major way.
What do you think... I'm keen to know.

Reason 3 has to be big very big! The market is getting very competitive indeed.
Huge software deals / revisions are becoming the norm...
1. Apple decide to bundle all of the Logic synths + Sace Designer into one package for a fraction of the price...stuns everyone!
2. NI decide to slash more than 50% of the price of Komplete 2. Awesome.
3. Ableton announce Live 4 which now directly competes with Cubase and Sonar! Some may say it is better already!
A clear pattern developing if you ask me. Reason must be big and very different. WIth their release schedule they cannot just throw in a few modules! As for the competition well Cubase would have to fix 99% of all their bugs and speed up the work flow by about 75% (unlikely) and Sonar would have to provide true gapless audio and a top end time stretching alogorithim (likely).
Live 4 is a major breakthrough. I expect some discounts or major patch releases from the competition between now and the end of July to counter Live 4's release. I doubt it will make much difference as Live 4 has ground breaking features so discounts will do little.
So a cheaper Cuabse or Sonar will not cut it. However bug fixes and some feature extending patches might do something but they will have to be pretty major and very soon! (doubt it) but lets see...front row seats anyone...
There is now a real danger that the competition will all be way behind by Sept / Oct when SX3, Sonar 4 and Samplitude 8 (confirmed) may be out.

SX3?? Man we haven't even persuaded our boss to give up the cash for SX2 yet!
Uknow:
I agree - personally I think the most likely and universally likely to be appreciated would be the Reason modules as VSTis
Imagine using them all in Live 4!
I would also like to see them add Microtonic to the rack (the one designed by the same guy as maelstrom)
I think taking more of a modular approach would make a huge difference
