you might need to read that twice, I wrote that an old project seems to suffer from this, I'll go back to an older revision or redo the automation.
I'm afraid that no matter how many times I re-read this Tone Deft, it makes little sense. I'm just undecided as to which area it makes less sense in: making music with software, or general semantics.

The only meaning that I can glean from your advice appears to be: undo the awful sounding (through no fault of your own) automation and forget about it, or redo it again and hope that the exact same set of variables result in a more favourable outcome.

But you can't really be saying that, can you? A man of your age?

Mind you, you may well be saying that if the highly embarrassing Chopsocky philosophy is anything to go by.

You'll be quoting The Big Lebowski before the night is out, I'll bet...

you don't understand how it's broken.

good luck laying there on the ground whining about your problems, I hope that gets you far in life.

No, I'm standing up, shouting IN YOUR FACE about them. I'm prodding you in the chest and challenging you to say something useful.

And you can't.

what more is there to say? it's broken, everybody knows it's broken. clearly the fix isn't staightforward, or they would have nailed it already. i can imagine that over the years there has been a lot of cursing at Ableton HQ when grafting new functionality onto the existing non-linear audio engine code base.

it's never been fair to expect the timing and performance of Live to match up with other linear DAWs, especially when computers weren't so fast.

C'mon Tone Deft, what would Bruce Lee do?

Skirt around the problem or beat the shit out of it?

Live is linear, as soon as you hit arrange view...

You're right though, there's nothing more to say, other than 'it's been broken for years, needs fixing". Which needs repeating until it is fixed.

If no one says that it will never be fixed.

You obviously feel you do understand.

Please, tell us, or at least provide a link to your understanding if you've stated it before.

i really doubt that Live switches to a different audio engine when you go to Arrangement view...

anyway, plenty of people have said it, and it's an obvious flaw. IMO from here on in continuing to bitch about it is superfluous. but each to their own.

So is Live's 'engine' linear, or not? And what does this have to do with not implementing PDC on returns, anyway?

This thread is about Bitwig, and my point is that I'd be gobsmacked if they let their product go out with this , ahem, 'bug'. But only time will tell.

What's with this 'bitch' word I keep reading here, anyway? Is it the same as Tone Deft's 'whining'?

If so, there seems to be an awful lot of 'bitching' and 'whining' about how some Ableton users 'bitch and whine' about major flaws with their purchased software.

Stop bitching and whining, dudes. Just practice what you preach and adapt to the problem of 'bitchers and whiners' silently.

Like what Bruce Lee would've done.

Tone Deft wrote:we can all say that Ableton are aware of this problem. they're also users of the software and would like to see this fixed. it might already be fixed in Live 9.
Why would they fix this if the only people pretending to be bothered by it were bitchers and whiners?

is that a serious question? Live's non-linear audio engine is the main feature that distinguishes it from other DAWs, i.e. the ability to mess with your production on the fly with continuous audio playback (most of the time). this is much more difficult to implement than a linear DAW that processes sound in a straight line after you press play.
