Update: They have her on a ventilator, because she can't breathe on her own. She is sedated. The doctor is more concerned today.
This can't be happening. This is a bad dream.

neb - remember, the doctors have seen this kind of thing before, it's scary as fuck but they're devoted professionals with experience, there is no better place she can be. it's a matter of time and patience.
sucks man, hang in there!

This is the first time, I've had a chance to sit down and read the entire thread. I just wanted to post and say, "Neb, I'm sorry to hear the sad news. I'm praying everything turns out alright. Have faith, life is special, and very fragile, but the human body is an amazing creation. It's never easy to see a loved one in pain, I wish your wife a swift recovery. Peace be with you."

I don't really know you neb, I know your writing here, and I kinda know your written personality. From what I can tell, you're pretty much a transparent person. You try hard to be on the up and up and happy. You like attention, and you are very much into being known. All this is just fine IMO. You make a great contradiction to me, and Tone, and LM, and b0unce and other regulars here that are slightly more eh,
aggressive in their opinions and attitude. I kinda was annoyed by you at first, as you propagate the forums with OT fluff, and I'm the type who gears towards heavy, in pretty much everything I do. What broke me was when you lightened up about being Ad homeniem attacked by people and just shrugged it off with a

. To me, that's a sign of maturity that I want personally. <-- serious kudos for that!
All this is distraction, I can't offer you any real advice, and as I'm pretty sure the universe is not fair, that people get no breaks, no guarantees. Studies have shown that prayer doesn't change a thing. All I can offer you really is my sympathies and a few comforting words and facts.
She's in a top modern hospital with access to the best this world offers in terms of medical help, you guys seemed to have caught it early, so chances are really good! even if it's not all roses right now! She's well loved by you, this matters, people do cling to life when they know they're loved.
You'll pull through this, and in all likelihood so will she. Everything points to her pulling through. Even if she didn't, you got to be with her, and none of us did. Just try to not carry any weird guilt about it, it's not your fault. Life just throws wild cards out every once in a while.
Feel free to tell me to STFU or what not, if it helps to distract you.

My thoughts are with you Neb. This sort of thing puts everything into perspective, makes everything else seem so trivial. Hoping for the best...

I have seen many pictures of the Neb family on facebook. They always look like really nice and happy people. This is horrible.

I don't know what to say. I'm just posting to let you know I am feeling a small part of your pain and thinking of you at this difficult time. You'll need all your strength right now and so will your wife. I know you have that strength.

I've heard the complete opposite - that it can make a difference even in athiests
you only need to look at the power of placebos to know that the mind is powerful...not sure about prayer if the person is unaware of it though....
anyway...@Neb - the fact that they put her on a ventilator is probably a good thing, when my father died of Pneumonia they said that there was no point putting him on a ventilator because he had smoked for 40 years and his lungs were too damaged - so they didn't even try
