Shit, even the Sex Pistols stole all of their gear! Well I guess they got their just desserts right? oh wait.

aside from that, you can all lick my balls. Just because you think that because you pay for software you're better than anyone proves that I'd rather stay where I am, than climb to whatever cracked out level you're at!
Ummm, you can go try and dig up Johnny Rotten and ask his corpse if he's enjoying his middle age. Karma? who knows, but he had a shitty life and an equally shitty death.

And yes, I am better than you; because I'm not a thief.

And, I notice that all the posters FOR kraks and such choose to remain anonymous - if you're such a libertarian crusader, then do so publically and not anonymously. Anonymous advocacy of your cause is nothing more than cowardice.

Oops... my bad.

Yer right. Got the names confused. Sid Vicious I meant. My sincere appologies to Johnny.

There's a good way to change your self-perception from the holder of the moral high-ground to the lowly moron in less than two minutes...

I think we can all work out the answer to "why nobody from ableton responded" when it was announced a Live 4 crack was available...

1 they are busy making amazing software
2 they probably knew this thread was about to be filled with insults, bad jokes, rumours and decided to rise above it
3 although I'm sure the abletons read the forum and take note of what users and guests are saying, they are probably too concerned with tracking down the cracks...

I think someone way back in this thread was right - go and make some music instead of bitching to each other. I have just finished teaching a session with some students using Live and they are so impressed with it. I showed them the forum too but if it carries on like this I'll tell them not to bother reading it...

make great music... :P

I've said it before and I'll say it again

at the end of the day - the people on the dance floor don't really care where the beats come from -

I can see it now these hot chicks from Spain want to go back to your hotel after your set, then one of then stops and says "Oh wait, he used a cracked version of Logic, ummm we don't think so..." - doubt it

You can stand up for either side all you want but in the end - the end result being a finished product, what does it matter?

If you have the money, you should buy the product...if you prefer not to pay for something that is just sitting there on someones server for you to have...download it - at the end of the day it's on you to make that decision

anywayz, who cares - just get on with your beat making

ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE GRAVE.

a lot of dumb things.

further distribution of cracks, which you were asked to
keep private for a while, is dumb.
(dual copyright infrigment ?)

public announcements of cracked copies in company
forums is dumb too.
(why not also post a link to cracks?)

what is also dumb, are most arguments "for" or "against"
paying for software licenses which you could read here.

do not steal from a. because the a. guys are cool is no
doubt one of the most stupid "arguments" i have read in this
context. what does that mean ?
so is it legit now to steal from bad people like those at emagic
or digidesign ?
or legal ?
on the other hand:
are ableton shareholders only holding shares to be cool ? is berlin
now a capitalism free zone ? 8O

noone ever said cracks were made for people which want to
save some money by not paying for stuff they would have
bought otherwise. if somebody does that, he is just dumb.
not paying for the apps you use will destroy those project sooner
or later.

there is a good method for checking if your own behavior
is cool: look into your harddrives and count the programs you use.
if the number of program you use is 20 or 30, but you have never
paid for ONE of them, you are either really poor, or just an asshole.
assholes should then not complain when certain other assholes tell
them criminals and sue them.

I'm not making excuses...stealing is flat out wrong, but I dont think a company should be driven out of business by this. You have to figure, most people that are using cracks, are people that most likely would not be buying the software anyway. I would think that most people who can afford the software will buy it. I'm sure Ableton knows this. Same with all the other companies. Some kid using a cracked version of a thousand dollar program probably wasnt going to buy it anyway. So i dont know what was really lost. Although, like I said, it is still stealing.

Guys, if your going to use the software, go buy it.

I like Live. I like it so much that I wanted to support it and tell everybody that it´s a wonderful software and all my music is made with it. So I bought it. In the other hand, I don´t really think cracking=stealing. Not allways. When I started, I didn´t even know how to buy the soft, It was easier just get cracked copies. I didn´t even know what soft would be what I was looking for. I paid for some of them, just the cheap ones I liked. Now I don´t use them. I don´t camplain about buying live.

But think about this: I worked for 3 years for a small web design company. At the beginning, all the soft was cracked. Then they went bigger and bought all that adobe and macromedia stuff. I became an expert with fh, dw, ph, you Know...

Now I´m creating my own company. So... Wait!!! I found Open source soft for graphic design!!! I will try it.

Yes, Open Source is a good thing for us, the poor guys. But Live is not Open Source, well, I would pay them too if they were OS, but not so much

which company is going out of business? sorry dude, but corporate buyouts and hostile invasion are more likely to do a company in before pirated software! Opcode? remember them?

I scoff at the claim that it puts any company in dire straits...

Any company faced with that issue can do what cycling 74 does and have iLok! its virtually uncrackable... so whine away about the improprieties of using cracked software, but the people who make it could easily stop it. You're all just pissed you didnt look on kazaa long eenough to find the right cracks!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHaH

i think that using cracked software is fine for personal use, until you start making money from it - then it is better to support the company that is supporting you.
