All I was getting at was how the American beers are marketed here (As well as being shit), lots of mountains, stuff about being cold and refreshing and men being manly... :? So you can't imagine a decent brewing culture when it comes to beer, plus I've never seen any at festivals, but probably too pissed to notice
ya i never got that either..

they should just say.. "hey! this crap is good!.. drink our crap.. you will love it!"

i wish i could send you a fresh 1554 Enlightened Black Ale from the New Belgium Brewery.
they have the Tour De Fat here in austin in 2 weeks.. it is a whole day of bikes and beers and music and freaks! but i have to miss it because of my friends wedding.. but he is making 2 kegs of home brew.. a porter and he said something else but that was drowned out by me screaming "yay porter" hehe..

you know i was just thinking..
everyone that posts in this thread would probably get along well in a pub..
ya maybe a few fist fights but i bet they would end in hugs a beers hehe

edit..
o except for the cunts in the beginning that didn't like beer but hell they like to drink so fuck it.. they can come too :)

should we start in on scotch next? :D

Tramps have the best hair.

Jebus...that reminds me, we used to make Diamond White and Special Brew snakebite at uni.

Hideous, smelt like sick, tasted like sick, made you sick.

I think it would be naive not to realise that there is a strong local brewing culture in the US, it's a shame it can't be commercial enough to export.

I wonder how the British brewers manage it, must be enough of a market out there of you guys drinking it.

I did go to a little bar in a strip mall in Florida that offered over 500 different beers from around the world and was impressed both by his knowledge and the array of beers.

If it hadn't been for the local bar flys (the guy who 'likes' british accents so nips next door and rings the bar to speak to your wife while he knocks one out and the woman who wants to play pool and keeps asking if your wife is bi-sexual)it would have been a great night out and I'd have tasted more beers...

^ ^ Snakebite seemed to get banned from pubs a few years back, shame realy...

...Back in the 80's my staple diet was a Stella/Scrumpy mix; the change you saved not having pure Stella left you with enough money for an extra pint...!

sam smiths is a great brewery and they do great pubs too.

you can see their brewery on the lhs of the a64 going from leeds to york

some of their pubs, where they only sell their own stuff, are the best around (imo).

just thinking off the top of my head - the princess louise in holborn, the rising sun in smithfield and the cock tavern on gt portland st

sod it - just look here :

I had some gruit in Vermont a couple of years ago. It was quite excellent! It is made without hops, and is rumored to have mild psychotropic effects, depending on which herbs are used for flavoring. Very strange drinking beer without hops....very light and refreshing! I would love to get some here, but without hops it is only available near to where it is brewed. I'm trying to get some home-brewing friends to make some, but I'll probably just have to make it myself. Medieval beers!! I had quite a pleasantly pagan experience on the beaver pond afterwards! ;)
