New MacBook Pros Released today??

Loving mine. It sounds dumb, but I'm on a computer constantly these days, and getting a new one that's noticably faster is great.

i hear you, especially if you constantly need to render or convert large projects...

which is why i dropped my quadcore for an i5. export/render got much faster in live, as other things that are of importance.

now i just wait for the 2740p to drop, to have the i5 in a laptop, too.. (and multitouch, and pen input, and laptop/tablet mode ).

a friend of mine is right now looking at the i5 macbook.. if it wouldn't be that expensive (he's in an art school.. no money making, and actually having to pay the school, too.. worst of both ). and the student rabatt of 5% here is ridiculous (hp gets you up to 70%)

Yes, but you should have also mentioned that in Switzerland your general VAT is only 7.6% as opposed to 21% in Germany or some other countries in EU. So..

and, that doesn't change that apple has the worst student discount of all companies i see by far. which is sad, as they'd love to have every student life in their apple only fantasyworld, and then, when they're done and big bosses of big companies, spread that habit into the 'real world'. at least, that's why most other companies have so huge discounts for students

PC laptop makers have such huge discounts because they can barely fucking give them away.

It won't be too much longer before they just start giving them to students on the hedge that perhaps they will grow complacent after college and keep buying their SHIT brand. Prolly not though. They'll get some job where they are forced to use PCs in the office, but will purchase Macs for the home.

the why doesn't matter. the fact is, his school forces him to macs (they don't even allow pc access, they actively blocked EVERYTHING. they blocked EVERY network printer etc, too..). it would be nice to get some rabatt, then, as they cost very much for the hw you get, the school costs much, and he has 0 time to actually make money besides (it's a 100% school).

so far, he does well with an old laptop of mine, and usb-stick-to-a-friend-to-print. saves him from paying that much.

not supporting non-apple laptops is one thing. but actively blocking them is ridiculous...

then, the only artsy types that might stay on mac are musicians. and from what i see on this forum, live doesn't work better on a mac than on my windows pcs anyways

^^ am i really catching into a macvspc debate again? while i actually said i do LIKE that new one? the i5s and i7s are awesome for live.

and finally, the 15" has a nice resolution for the screen, too. this is actually the first macbook since unibody that would get put onto my list of choices when i'd buy a new system. the fact that it's a mac is no pro or contra for me in the end. i chose based on features/cost

i took a close look at the 17" matte the other day in the Apple store. i want to take Paddy's advice on this one, but, there's no way around it. the 17" is just big and wonky looking. i may rethink it and go with the 15" matte.

Every Adobe product has every single feature available for the Mac as they do for the PC. You are talking out of your Mac Hating Ass.

What is true, however, is that nearly every Adobe product runs slower on a Mac. There are numerous head-to-head comparisons on the net. I use both platforms with my Adobe suite and know this to be true. Why anyone at this point would continue to use Macs for graphics/digital imaging work is fucking beyond my comprehension.

In fact, fuck Apple for not supporting Flash for their iPad. Adobe should simply stop making anything for the Macs. They won't of course. At least, not in the next year. But who knows? Nearly every single designer I've known who used to use Macs for work has switched.

That 'partnership' hasn't existing for nearly nearly 5 years now. It used to be spot on true. Adobe products ran like ASS on PCs. As mentioned, it's the opposite now.

FFS i wasn't bashing those macbooks, instead actually stating that i support those getting the i5 15" as it's a nice device (and said as such as it would even get put onto my list of "what would be my next laptop").

i could punch intel into their faces for calling that thing an i7. it's the same as the i5, just a bit faster (10% faster than the cheapest i5 option on the macbook, 400$ higher in price).
the real idea of the i7 was to be a quadcore (that means 8 threads).

i would go for the cheap i5 + an ssd for the saved money, giving more bang for the buck. but to each it's own of course
