omf file im and export is missing.. while the other big daw´s also have needed quite a while to include that, its by now really a standard interchange format.
I wouldnt say that it needs to be complete ..but to have at least the files alligned on tracks allready would help to safe quite some time.. maybe fader settings would be nice too... and its practical to have the option to store all your arrange audio tracks in a single file anyway
in ideal omf import would work also on top of an allready exsiting file by just adding extra tracks ..

I know it hurts having all these problems, but look at the bright side: you have some new material for that song you've been writing. You know...the song you've been workin' on? You know the the one, uh, you've been workin on for three years? You know the song. Got somethin' new to write about now. You know? Maybe a, maybe a German geek gets into a DAW relationship and suffers a technical problem? Somethin' like what... what you've just been through? Draw from real life experience? Little, little technical problem? You know? Work it into the song? Make the piece a little more three dimensional? Little, uh, richer experience for the listener? Make those 128 bar loops you make really keep the listener guessing what's going to happen? Some twists and turns? A little intro? Everybody learns that the hero's journey isn't always a happy one? Oh, I look forward to listening it!

the arrange record function which is one of the main advantages and strong features of live hasnt changed at all since Live 1.0
while its still strong all the feature wishes regarding it in the last 9 years was ignored..
question.. should such a mighty base function and foundation of abletons sucess see some improovements?
or is it good enough and dont leaves wishes open?
to get the count up against the quicky rising positiv list i will name some wishes in the following points.
but for now.. any wishes that would improove the handling of the arrange recording you like to add?

Frozen audio clips default to 'beats' warp mode and there is no documented way of changing that.
To get around this I duplicate the frozen clip, and move the copy into a new audio track, then bring up the clip details, then change the warp mode, then go back to what it was I was doing.
Pretty shit oversight, if there's an options.txt fix to this I haven't heard it yet.

an important one.. litlle all time bugger..
Live´s Arrange recording.. all your moves in session view get recorded.. a total recall mixdown dub automation..
great..
But..
not everything gets recorded !!!
one important thing is missing.. the insertion of plugs..
you can do that.. but.. the program has the plug inserted than all the time from the beginning..
It should automatical set the bypass of that plugs to all time before the insertion point..
and the problem would be solved
)
i suggested that a view times already.. maybe its even in the porgram allready.. but just got that one into mind again while listening to an older recording..
And thats why i have started this thread to note down the little drawbacks you allways forget in the moment they come along ..and that in one place.. so i guess you will see this thread a few times more...
However.. when there is still no auto bypass prior insertion point it should be included better sooner than later.
that it was like that for many years dont makes it a feature. The Arrange recording is not complete without that.
will check in the next session if its still not solved.. but was bugging me for so many years again and again and many older runoffs suffer from that.. its defently a worthy thread entry.

the waveform display of stereo files is a bit old fashioned and eats overview in arrange because you have to zoom the tracks much more to see what is going on in the waveforms..
I would say its enough for arrange to see just one side of the stereo signal and show the stereo status with the waveform colour.. differences between left add right channel can be displayed with different colours..
this might matter even more for potential multichannel formats
in the clipeditor there should be a selector for the audiochalle to be displayed as wavefom or all together with different colours

abletons so very important browser dont os very comfortable in the handling.. together with the better overview features mentionend earlier it could need som little helpers.. like automatic closing the folders again after a while.. again a point where live needs too much clicking around to achive simple things...
also something like an last item line at the top could help or haveing fx seltion not only from the browser.. a float window just with fx for the retun tracks maybe or the same for midi tracks with all the instruments..?

Re: All the little detail problems with Ableton Live Collection
If there were over 100 things wrong with the house I live in, I would move.
If I had over 100 complaints about my girlfriend, I would break up with her.
If I had over 100 complaints about the food, I would never go to that restaurant again...
So... if there are so many things wrong with Live.... why do you use it?
