Admittedly, I don't have to stress as hard when I do the traditional route, but that gives me more time to get drunk and enjoy myself too which I think the crowd enjoys when the Dj is having fun.

I'm playing on doing a set in which I create all the music live on the go, and use lives sampling for fun quotes and sounds, I'm going to have my guitar hooked to the side of my desk to give me some more fun.

I make my beats etc live and use guitar loops I've recorded earlier, this way I can solo if I feel like it, I can mix and warp if I feel like it.

Using ableton to dj in the old style just seems like a waste of time to me, go get some decks if thats what you're after.

I think "electronic performance artist" would suit the way I'm going instead of dj, as I aint jockeying no discs

when LL cool J played mtvs unplugged and had that band behind him, nobody ever called that band a dj just because they were playing music behind a rapper cause that would have been silly, but alot of people who use the word dj think just because you play musc to a crowd of people is what makes you a dj.....then what about bands, orchestras, trios, etc... so no playing audiofiles on a laptop does not make you a dj anymore than it makes herbie handcock a dj.
