anyways how do guys reckon the over all feel of 5.03. i mean it does some strange things that wouldnt pop up in 5.02. for instance suddenly i couldnt delete clips with my delete key, the preference window turns out blank..plus i just feel that Live crashes a lot more than it used to do.

thanks to Stefan and Dev. for listening to sense. My workflow is almost exactly as Angstrom's so. i never noticed the 5.02 bug.
Look forward getting a fix for this as I was getting a bit pissed that all support and development was going to end at 5.02 for me...

Hi folks,
now, as it is announced that the next bugfix update is named 5.2, we will address this issue in Live 5.2. There you get the Live 5.0.2 behavior back but still can activate the 5.0.3 behavior via the Options.txt file.
regards,
/Alex

WebSite!
if I'm not wrong it was announced for sometime in february, right?
Yes, that is right. It depends a bit on our Intel-Mac support progress and on how fast Apple can deliver their new hardware.
At least we want to start the beta as early as possible.

/Alex
thanks

So the release of 5.02 is dependant on Apple releasing hardware?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I don't know of a time in history that they haven't had some sort of shipping/release delay or SNAFU.
Please have mercy on us!

I just want to add my vote to the majority who is has no need for this 5.03 "feature," is somewhat baffled as to when it would ever be useful, and can't wait until Live reverts to it's former behavior...where clips start at beat 1 unless purposefully changed in with an offset.

I want to add my vote to this thread also...
I can't begin to describe how PISSED i get about the beat never starting where it should.
AT LEAST GIVE US THE ON/OFF OPTION FOR THAT NON-SENSE!!!!!!
I normally don't curse but.......whatever asswipe decided this would be a great feature should be slapped everytime this crap happens!
now get back to fighting with the goddamn orange dot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And i'm done......

I'll add my vote as well. I had no idea what the heck was going on (with the clip launching offbeat) until I read this thread. I haven't read through this whole thread, but it sounds like the "fix" will be included in the 5.2b1 release?

Good news from Alex. Maybe instead of being called just "Live 5.2" the new upgrade should be called "Live 5.2 ON THE ONE". Because it starts on the one. D'you see where I'm going with this? On the one? That's right, where musicians usually start...
Jumping ahead to 2010... picture the scene...
Live 10 is on the verge of release... the launch celebrations at Ableton HQ are in full swing, and Ableton's 250 (!) employees are all dancing to 280 bpm ambient death metal jazz, while hundreds of little floating robot webcams are buzzing round the room sending HD video feed of the whole event as multi-angle 3D vision with 15.1 vertical surround sound to Live forum members, at home wearing their new Live 10 electronic tinfoil flexible-control-surface sarongs. Gerhard, Robert and Alex are in a corner laughing hysterically. A little videobot drifts in close to hear their conversation...
"What was that guy's name?"
"Who? Which guy?"
"The guy who set it up that Live 5 would start On The 3!!!"
"Harharharhar!!! I just remember him as Bonehead!!!"
"It doesn't matter what his name is... since we locked him in the cupboard he only answers to "DUH!" or else we don't feed him!!!"
"Is he still in the cupboard?"
"He was... the last time I fed him in 2008..."
