I don't think any of my posts in this thread qualify as a tantrum. your post right there might be one though.

All i mean by regular cpu load is that if your meter is at 75% or below you should have no problems. I don't see how understanding that could have anything to do with what experience i do or don't have. Would you like me to post my CV? I don't think anybody cares. I certainly don't care about yours.

You still haven't given a specific example of how live is unstable or unreliable. sound and fury signifying nothing.

75% has no quantifiable reference on what a regular session load is. It is obvious you are not qualified to figure this out. You have a serious case of ADD. I coming down off my buzz and going to bed.

That's because i'm not talking about "session load."
I'm talking only about cpu load.

The program does exactly what it's supposed to do up unto a certain cpu threshold.

You wouldn't say a 24 track 2" machine was unstable or unreliable because you believed that a regular session required 32 tracks.

Not much to add here other than if the goal here is to discuss issues relating to Live's stabilty or things that we feel may make siginificant improvements to future versions of Live, then lets do just that.

To deviate from such and enter into or continue to perpetuate name calling contest, how are qualifications are as musicians, composers, programmers, etc. make our own view more relevant than another Live users, and other such comments are all irrelivant. Further they are not a means by which we can expect Ableton staff to be patient enough to read through as such issues do not help them cater to their clientel or their product in any shape way or form.

The more precise and concise we can be in regard to what are current problems with Live are and/or what we would like to see enter into Live's capabilities, the more we can expect Ableton to lend an ear and address our issues.

STFU and post in the Bugs and Problems or feature request! Ableton does indeed listen! They invited users to go talk to them directly in Berlin.

as has been said many times already there is a big difference between stability/bugs and feature requests/added improvements.

Knotkranky - for real stop telling people that they arent good enough. really just doesnt help your cause at all and if you are gonna be pompous at least be helpful and offer us insightful tips from your experience rather than holding it over our heads.

YOU ARE ALL IN AGREEMENT THAT YOU WANT LIVE TO BE THE BEST FUCKING PROGRAM OUT THERE!

and if it so happens that people actually ENJOY using the software that doesnt mean they dont want improvements or that they are any less of users than you are.

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU USE IT FOR WE ALL WANT IT TO BE AWESOME!

i dont need to hear how PROS need better quality and have bigger demands anymore. i get that. we all use it and we all want it to be good. in fact im curious to know what the ratio of Pro user purchases is to "non pro, hobby, people not in the know" users.

whatever just shut up and go defrag your computer, run one program, no additional plugins, have no internet connection and turn the clock off and go work.

Yes, your point is well taken and my apologies please. I must admit that I have digressed in this thread a bit. But I take it your post is not directed at me alone. I find it curious that you would post this after a couple of my digs. I mean, where were you 5 pages ago. I have shown restraint and fought fire in kind only in hopes that one in particular simply stop, but of course this is merely a cycle of antagonism, and I allowed myself to get frustrated and sucked in. I also had a couple of drinks. Again my apologies to the forum and Lsrmfn. For those who have to resort to such tactics, it is best not to engage in this thread at all. I would most definitely would like to keep a civilized even if heated debate. If this post is driving some to lose their cool, then it is best they author their own thread and find advocates for their cause since we are all under the same forum anyway. There are certainly different camps on this forum that don't mix well and authoring a thread holds more weight than stonewalling another. The experienced know who they are, the inexperienced might not know the difference and there are a ton of experienced posters on this forum who require that Ableton be more than accountable for what they put out, and we need it much sooner than later.

I will do my best to ignore posters that resort to the problems you are referring to. My goal is to not antagonize Live posters. My goal is to antagonize the top brass at Ableton.

I do appreciate your apology.

I would also appreciate a response to my statements that lead to your outurst and subsequent "brush off."

I like you, want live to improve.

I understand exactly what you mean when you say that you can't use live for a pro multitrack mixdown session. CPU simply can handle enough tracks, and there are some key features missing. (solo isolate, mix and edit groups are biggies. How about something as simple as a keystroke for assigning inputs or outputs in sequence like in protools, that would be a time saver on a multi track session, no?)

However, I also understand the difference between wanting more features, including better cpu efficiency, and unreliability. Its a big difference.

BTW, there are other kinds of pros out there than just audio engineers. Somebody who writes original hip-hop or techno or pretty much any other electronic music will find that live is perfectly strong enough for their pro use. being able to do a big multitrack mixdown session is not the beggining and end of everything usefull.

Alright, but this will be the last best i can offer you. If anyone of us doesn't feel a conclusion has been met then lets just agree to disagree or say our differences are just that.

I,m fine that Live is not a pro mixdown app, though in the near future that would be nice. And I don't need time savers, I need basic digital audio fidelity. I have stated my priorities, you've had my answer more than twice.
However, I also understand the difference between wanting more features, including better cpu efficiency, and unreliability. Its a big difference.
I'm not concerned about the "differences" between cpu efficiency and unreliability and I certainly don't want more feature especially in leu of simple audio. We have been over this. I won't address this again with you. simply reread my earlier posts.
BTW, there are other kinds of pros out there than just audio engineers. Somebody who writes original hip-hop or techno or pretty much any other electronic music will find that live is perfectly strong enough for their pro use. being able to do a big multitrack mixdown session is not the beggining and end of everything usefull.

I also compose, play a few instruments and bang beats. I'm programing a beat right now that is a commissioned job. Where is the audio just for that? Again, not mixing in Live right now is fine and I'm willing to not care about that right now. It's done, you can have it, case closed.

Before I address your previous post you requested, you need to be aware that simply holding me to your questions because you are not satisfied with my answers is not my problem because you are unsatisfied. You yourself have left plenty of unanswered questions and untrue statements. Nobody is chasing you around to make you accountable for all that. Some tried, but you lost your cool and brushed them off.

Ok, so
That's because i'm not talking about "session load."
I'm talking only about cpu load.
Call it whatever load you want. Live will not handle an elementary amount of audio files required for a session. Ok, so you don't have glitches? I'm happy for you. Most have them.

You don't need to complain just to me, the thread below will explain things. Go through this thread, and satisfy yourself with the findings. Just listen to the hard working professional users who still cannot have a one single pleasant hour. There are many other threads for you to spread your wings.
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

The program does exactly what it's supposed to do up unto a certain cpu threshold.
May I request that you answer to that statement for us. What is Live exactly suppose to do up unto a certain cpu threshold? Please explain. Use any threshold you like. Please give us a response to that.
You wouldn't say a 24 track 2" machine was unstable or unreliable because you believed that a regular session required 32 tracks.
Correct, I wouldn't say that.

Now show us how much you believe and start a thread to communicate with people who support you. I promise to see you there.

This thread is beyond bugs and we don't want more features. I stand by all my earlier posts. Check them out. If a key combination or whatever will straighten out the audio problems, then I am way into that. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Berlin. I've enjoyed German hospitality and had a wonderful time there myself some years ago.
as has been said many times already there is a big difference between stability/bugs and feature requests/added improvements.
Those "differences" are not important to me. You should converse with Lsrmfn on that. Hopefully he will tell you that all I want is basic good audio. Lets add that right now, or better yet, a year ago.
Knotkranky - for real stop telling people that they arent good enough. really just doesnt help your cause at all and if you are gonna be pompous at least be helpful and offer us insightful tips from your experience rather than holding it over our heads.
I never said that and your implication is extremely disingenuous and rotten. Being a professional music dude does not lower others who are not. If you feel that way, please don't. It's your personal problem and involves know one else. Your remark is the only pompous one. You just don't care for me and thats cool. Some have implied on PM's to me that i should tell of my experience and that it might be helpful. It's no big deal and not as glamorous as I think you might think it is. Let it go. Some Live users are noodlers, some are power users or working professionals. That distinction is very very very important to the subjective dialogue that is driving many crazy and is essential to this thread. By the way I have left some mix tips on the tips n tricks forum called; Mix tips for a positive difference. Check it out.
YOU ARE ALL IN AGREEMENT THAT YOU WANT LIVE TO BE THE BEST FUCKING PROGRAM OUT THERE!
YES WE ARE!
and if it so happens that people actually ENJOY using the software that doesnt mean they dont want improvements or that they are any less of users than you are.
I think I follow you, so yes. Anyway, how can us complainers ruin someone else's en-joyful experiences with a thread that doesn't apply to them. If they are happy, then what are they doing bumming themselves out with this thread. They don't care and don't feel less than me. I will say that this is certainly a professionals thread which is another way of saying; this is a thread for people who are not enjoying Live's most important, most missing feature. If you don't have problems, then many are certainly envious. Good audio is not a feature, it's what it's supposed to do "first".
IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU USE IT FOR WE ALL WANT IT TO BE AWESOME!
YES WE DO!
i dont need to hear how PROS need better quality and have bigger demands anymore. i get that. we all use it and we all want it to be good. in fact im curious to know what the ratio of Pro user purchases is to "non pro, hobby, people not in the know" users.
Ok, so you're not a pro, so what. May I suggest you find a thread with things you want to hear. Me thinks you are on the wrong thread maybe. As far as the ratio of pro to non pro user. That is a great question and we have something of common interest in wanting to know.
whatever just shut up and go defrag your computer, run one program, no additional plugins, have no internet connection and turn the clock off and go work.
Hmmm

knotkranky,

what problems are you having exactly?

is your hyperthreading turned off?

are your clips set to RAM?

have you increased your buffer size?

are all your clips set to WARP?

if you dont do these things Live will not be efficient..

if you dont care for the sort of things people who have a lot of experience with Live are saying, then maybe you are the one who shouldnt be on this forum...

otherwise, every audio application has its own set of system workflow requirements. live is not coded buggy, and if you expect for it to give you the same performance as pro tools or SX then you are sorely mistaken about the nature of the application and would advise you to look at other platforms.

if you are willing to accept that everybodys system has a 'limit' with how much live can handle, then maybe we can make some progress... otherwise you sound like a spoiled kid.

you may describe some people as the contestant on Idol who don't hear their own voice, but you come across as the kid who puts their fingers in their ear and goes "LA LA LA LA LAAA IM NOT LISTENING"

sweetjesus,

You are one of the biggest Ableton apologist's in the most evangelistic sense. You stonewall and misrepresent a huge Live demographic that has kicked but for Ableton with their blood, sweat, tears, money and lost production time. Man, a lot of these dudes are still with it too, hammering it out for all Live users. Am I using warp? you got to be kidding. Are my clips set to ram? What, Live doesn't support Hard drive playback? Those and your other questions reflect that you are a music production novice with a work around mentality that any Ableton manager would love. Pull your nose out of Ableton's rear end, put it back into Live and do something with it of substance and feel our pain. You sir, fight progress..... I have posted my system, so tell me the limits?....... Yes, spoiled in the sense that I have used apps that work......Are you listening?

If you have the guts, start your own thread and call it something like; Those guys don't know anything!.

obviously you are a total moron,

Live supports hard disk playback but hey guess what retard, your hard drive can only play back xx amount of data at any given time.. obviously you are the kind of person who tries to push too hard when you are constepated and gets a brain haemmorahge and complains afterwards that because everyone else can poo fine and you cant!

other apps read the material ahead in time and put it to RAM, they dont stream a stupid amount of tracks directly from disk, but hey what do i know..

also since im such an evangelist.. http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ht=dropped

mate, obviously you are radeon and djretard incarnated .. with no clue as to what anything is and social skills to boot.

i AM progress, you are constepated and nobody here can help you.
