it is one of the most bewildering decisions I've ever seen taken
how can it ever be a good thing with anything at all ever to actually make it
less easy to do something??

I must admit, I always saw Ableton as a very responsive company before this - but they really seemed not to have listened to the users on this one. Not simply by ignoring this overwhelming poll result, but also the alpha and beta testers in the months running up to the release, who IIRC gave consistent views about keeping the edit button where it had been.

Those 16 who voted "No.." actually voted "No, I want it back yesterday!".

My music used to sound great, and now it sounds shit.. thanks to a lack of edit button. Its just totally undermined my confidence and self esteem. I also find it harder to talk to women without knowing I have an edit button back home in the lab. PLease bring it back Ableton so I can get my mojo working again.

Are you sure that, in your case, the lack of an EDIT button is the real issue?

I'm sure Dubbaya had something to do with it
there must be subliminal messaging in the file manager or something

perhaps the big delay in live 7 is trying to remember how to put the edit button back

or perhaps they're working on sample editing natively within live..

I think they're working on a perception filter that makes us forget all about the EDIT button and just assume they're not there
