hmm still haven't figured this one out - even the demo videos/photos on the abelton site seem to have macs (BT for example) and yet the performance is so much different, and with the rumour that Live was designed in max/msp (obviously before the PC port) I'm beginning to think that Live was written, ran well, very cool app, but then got it onto PC and they got a nice surprise - "hey, this works even better! Bonus"

yeah, I'm thinking the same thing here... mac buyers are getting burned left and right, on price and performance...

maybe back in the day but i don't think it is anymore. i've seen a few MAX/MSP apps and they don't compare to Live. i don't know anything about programming. are you saying that it's STILL being developed with MAX/MSP to this day?

counts, I´d rather eat worms than have a badly designed pc in front
of me!
Seriously, both platforms do just fine. You´re not looking for ultimate CPU performance, but a tune that makes a difference!

yeah, I understand this - you can get trapped in mHz/track count land with a PC, but then there's nothing more frustrating than thinking a tune could use antother sound and creating a new track and finding it pushes it over the edge and you have to waste half an hour figuring out which tracks can be mixed together (i.e. no more automation individually for each) and bouncing down, and moving it all onto the new track etc etc

that way madness lies

Got that. But still, you play with the toys you like and prefer. ANd we all know what some guys have made with a eight-track!!!!
