Ok, now this rack hopefully is self explanatory, but I'll explain it anyway

Ableton tried to stop me looping stuff back on itself, by disallowing a compressor to take its input from the output of the chain it is in ... IE a loopback situation.
Solution ? make another chain in the same rack and loop between the two.

This rack takes a signal, delays it, then, where a normal delay will just pass the delayed signal back into the buffer using a feedback control so it repeats again nice and clean - I can stick a lot of craziness in the feedback chain to make it sound nasty.

Here I have 'extended' the grain delay so that it now has a filter and a saturator in its feedback path

twiddly the dials for fun. I quite like setting the delay length to a bar and playing the pitch dial, then it loops back around.


Other applications

• Obviously you can now make an 8 bar delay like this. IE a looper!
• Take the output of the beatrepeat, put it through some effects and feed it back into itself
• make a 'phat' chorus
• etc, etc

The sets I have been playing with are mainly using some of my own instruments, I'll try and cook one up which is explanatory (at some point)

That's fricking sweet! Thanks for sharing it. I've been in a mood to create some generative type stuff to self-automate, render and listen to... those ideas are making me want to explore that concept even more

I just checked a set in the previous beta against the newest one and it is different, the feedback hack is dead

it's really cool, but i can't get it to do an infinite loop (a la angstrolooper).
i added a third chain with a utility to output the original sound
i removed all the devices (except for the compressors), and put a simple delay on each chain, full wet, 0 feedback, link on 16.
i get it to loop for sometime, but the signal eventually vanishes.
if i put the feedback up it's better but after some point i hear a feedback loop coming

they fucked it, try opening it with teh previous beta.

trying to remain civil here about this company that limits my creativity for some shitty PDC shit

all is not lost, though. you can still do something similar using track routing. i do it all the time in L6. a single macro for looping would be still be rad though!

You KNOW the king of all loopers in L8 is only twelve months away. Oh the Joy that will be!

i really miss some crazy destructive midi tools.

Like reverse ( not that crazy i know )
Perhaps rotate ( change scale, time and duration ) based on a center point.
Select a range and have some random midi inserted based on min max values
etc etc etc...whatever to help people like me, with absolutely no musical talent...

I know we have plenty cool midi plugins but some destructive tools would be fun too.

MIDI warp markers is what I requested once.. killer..

feedbacks in digital audio are pandoras box. At some point we might introduce block wise audio calculation for all our effects, and from that day on you'll have all kinds of wierd behaviour with such kinds of feedback. your loop will be *almost* eight bars long and it will change as a function of many factors we cannot determine now.

now imagine what users would tell us if this would happen....

so, we do not officially allow. better remind us to do spend more focus on you looper guys !
